MAHENDERGARH, 13.11.25-The Department of Mathematics, Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh successfully organized two educational trips: One to IIT Jodhpur, Rajasthan and the other to NIT Jalandhar, Punjab. The three-day tour aimed to blend academic learning with cultural exploration, historical awareness, and spiritual enrichment. A total of 85 students accompanied by faculty members benefitted from this valuable experience.
One group of 45 participants, including 38 M.Sc. Mathematics students, 4 research scholars, and 3 faculty members visited Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jalandhar, where they were warmly welcomed by the Department of Mathematics and Computing. The Head of the Department, Dr. Raghav Raman Sinha, along with faculty member Dr. Anupam Yadav, interacted with the students and motivated them through an engaging academic session focused on research opportunities, interdisciplinary learning, and the evolving role of mathematics in modern science and technology.
An academic interaction session and a quiz competition were also organized, which tested students’ mathematical knowledge, analytical reasoning, and teamwork skills. The entire experience provided valuable exposure to research practices, academic structures, and collaborative learning in higher education. Prof. A. K. Yadav, HOD, Mathematics, and Prof. Jitendra Kumar accompanied the group.
The participants also visited several historical and culturally significant sites, including the Atari-Wagah Border, Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Partition Museum in Amritsar. The group witnessed the Beating Retreat Ceremony, an emotionally impactful event that filled everyone with immense pride and patriotism. Visits to the BSF Museum, Sukhna Lake, and the Rock Garden in Chandigarh further enriched the trip, offering lessons in creativity, sustainability, and national heritage.
The trip concluded as a memorable blend of academic enrichment, cultural appreciation, and patriotic spirit. It provided students with a platform to learn beyond the classroom, fostering teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.
The other group of 45 participants, including 37 Integrated BSc-MSc Mathematics students, 5 research scholars, and 2 faculty members visited Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur, and engaged in useful interactions with the faculty of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. During the trip, students explored historical and culturally significant sites in Jodhpur, Pushkar and Jaipur. They also took part in adventure activities during the trip and learnt many things like team work, planning, scheduling and organising various components of such an activity. They also got to know each other better. Dr Jagjeet and Dr. Priyanka accompanied the students on this trip.
The Department of Mathematics expressed its sincere gratitude to Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, for his constant encouragement in promoting experiential education. Appreciation was also extended to Prof. AK Yadav, Head of the Department of Mathematics, Prof. Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Dean of the School of Basic Sciences, and Prof. Jitendra Kumar for their continuous guidance, motivation, and leadership throughout the trip.
The educational tours proved to be quite transformational experience, leaving students with lifelong memories, deeper understanding, and renewed motivation toward academic excellence, research engagement, and personal growth.
