Chandigarh, December 1:- The 35th meeting of the Town Vending Committee (TVC) was convened today in the Municipal Corporation Building, Sector 17, Chandigarh, under the chairmanship of Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.

The meeting was attended by other senior officials namely Ms. Kanwardeep Kaur SSP, UT Chandigarh, TVC members including Smt. Chanchal Rani, sh. Mukesh Giri, sh. Ravinder Singh, Dr. Anish Garg, Mrs. Sabra, special invitee Sh. Navneet Chawla, Sh. Kailash Jain, Sh. Naresh, Sh. Sanjeev Chadha and Sh. Charanjiv Singh.

The meeting focused on key matters pertaining to the management, regulation, and facilitation of street vending activities across the city.
During the session, all agenda items were thoroughly deliberated, with special emphasis on initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of street vendors and ensuring smooth coordination among relevant departments. The Committee directed the Engineering Wing to expedite the development of the Model Vending Zone at Manimajra, emphasizing that the facility must be made operational at the earliest to enhance vending infrastructure and support organized vending practices.

To further streamline grievance redressal and decision-making, the Committee constituted a dedicated panel to examine vendor representations and address issues on a priority basis. This initiative aims to resolve common concerns promptly while ensuring transparency, fairness, and responsiveness in handling vendor-related matters.
In a significant step towards enhancing vending opportunities, the Committee decided to offer vendors currently operating in the IT Park area the option to shift to the upcoming Manimajra Vending Zone. This move is expected to provide a more structured environment for vending activities while helping decongest high-traffic zones.

The Municipal Corporation reiterated its commitment to fostering a vendor-friendly ecosystem and ensuring that vending regulations align with the principles of inclusivity, urban order, and sustainable development.
