CHANDIGARH,The Department of Psychology at Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Sector 32, Chandigarh organized a seminar on “AI Being Used as Therapists Among College Students” on 17th February, conducted by Miss Shriya Miglani, Counselling Psychologist, Max Hospital.
The session focused on the expanding role of Artificial Intelligence in providing accessible mental health support to college students, while also addressing ethical concerns and highlighting the importance of human empathy in therapy and psychotherapy. It further discussed how AI-based tools are being integrated into psychotherapeutic practices as supportive aids, while emphasizing that they cannot replace the therapeutic alliance between client and therapist. Around 200 students attended and actively participated in discussions on the benefits, limitations, and future implications of AI in psychological care. The seminar was insightful and encouraged the responsible and ethical use of technology in mental health and psychotherapy.
