Chandigarh, March 4, 2026: Under the aegis of the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Panchkula, a Seminar on “Mental Health and Stress Management” was organized by the Income Tax Department, Panchkula, for the officers and staff of the Department posted in the tricity region on 03.03.2026 at the National Institute of Teachers Training and Research, Sector-26, Chandigarh.

The programme was graced by Ashok Kumar Saroha,IRS Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, North West Region, who attended as the Chief Guest.

The distinguished speakers included Vivek Lal, Director, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, and noted motivational speaker Girish Anand.

Dr. Lal highlighted the importance of mental well-being, emphasizing compassion, gratitude, and the spirit of giving back to society as effective ways to manage stress. He described yoga as a process of “truthfully communicating with oneself” and underscored the role of self-awareness in maintaining emotional balance. Sh. Anand, in his engaging address, discussed key stress factors and introduced the ACTS model—Accept Reality, Clarify Priorities, Time Blocking, and Seeking Support—as practical strategies for stress resolution and enhanced productivity.

The event was also attended by Vidisha Kalra, IRS, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Panchkula; Vatsalaa Jha, IRS ,Director General of Income Tax (Investigation), North West Region; and Komal Jogpal, IRS , Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (OSD). The Seminar was compered by Poonam Rai,IRS.

Officers and staff working in the tricity participated with great enthusiasm and benefitted from the insightful sessions. The key takeaways of the seminar included maintaining work-life balance, recognizing early signs of stress, prioritizing mental health, and fostering a sense of gratitude and social responsibility.
