Chandigarh, 6 April: Department of Home Science at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, under the aegis of the Women Development Cell, in collaboration with Vardhman Textiles Ltd., Ludhiana, organised a two-day workshop titled “Crochet Blooms: Blending Tradition with Creative Expression”.
The sessions were conducted by Ms. Charu Jain, Senior Executive, Marketing Department, Vardhman Textiles Ltd. She provided hands-on training while sharing valuable insights into crochet techniques, design patterns, and their contemporary creative applications. The workshop commenced with an introduction to the fundamentals of crochet, gradually progressing to the creation of intricate floral designs such as roses, carnations, lilies, and tulips using yarn and crochet hooks. The carefully structured sessions enabled participants to build their skills step-by-step, fostering both precision and creativity. Beyond skill development, the workshop also encouraged an appreciation of traditional crafts within a modern and innovative framework. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from 55 students along with faculty members, all of whom actively engaged in learning the intricate art of crochet flower making. All necessary materials, including vibrant yarn, were provided by Vardhman Textiles Ltd., ensuring a seamless and enriching learning experience.
During the valedictory session, Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma lauded the efforts of the Department. She appreciated the students’ enthusiasm and creativity, emphasising that such initiatives play a crucial role in nurturing practical skills, enhancing confidence, and promoting self-reliance among young learners. She further encouraged students to explore creative pursuits and leverage such skills for personal development as well as entrepreneurial ventures.
