Chandigarh, April 20:- Marking the successful conclusion of Fire Service Week 2026, the Fire and Rescue Services of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh conducted comprehensive fire safety evacuation drills across various government hospitals in the city.
The initiative was carried out in close coordination with the Health Department, UT Chandigarh, reinforcing the city’s commitment to emergency preparedness in critical institutions.
The drills were aimed at assessing real-time response capabilities and included live demonstrations on the use of firefighting equipment, structured evacuation procedures, and safe rescue techniques for patients, particularly those in critical care. Hospital staff participated enthusiastically, showcasing improved coordination and readiness to handle emergency situations efficiently.
During the exercise, fire officers also carried out detailed inspections of installed fire safety systems and conducted awareness sessions focusing on fire prevention measures and best practices. The cooperation extended by hospital authorities and staff was highly appreciated, with officials emphasizing the importance of conducting regular drills to ensure a high level of preparedness at all times.
Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding lives and infrastructure, the Fire Department highlighted the need for strict adherence to fire safety norms across all critical establishments. The week-long campaign concluded on a positive note under the theme: “Safe School, Safe Hospital & Fire Safety Aware Society – Together for Fire Prevention.”
