BJP’s Sankalp Patra is a Guarantee of Development, Accountability and Good Governance: Dr. Bindal
BJP Resolves to Make Solan a Clean, Smart, Safe and Drug-Free City
Solan, May 12, 2026BJP Himachal Pradesh President Dr. Rajeev Bindal today released the BJP’s “Sankalp Patra” for the Solan Municipal Corporation elections and strongly criticized the Congress government and the functioning of the Municipal Corporation. He said that despite Congress being in power at every level — the MLA, the Minister and the Municipal Corporation — the people of Solan are still struggling for basic amenities such as drinking water, cleanliness and parking facilities.
Dr. Bindal said that Congress had made several tall promises during the 2021 Municipal Corporation elections, but none of them have been fulfilled on the ground. He stated that Congress had promised affordable and regular drinking water supply to every household, but today residents are forced to wait for days and even weeks for water supply. When water does arrive, it is often dirty and unfit for drinking. Many families have been compelled to spend thousands of rupees on private water tankers while simultaneously facing increased water bills.
He further said that Congress had promised free garbage collection services in its earlier manifesto, but instead garbage charges were increased and the city has now turned into a dumping ground. The sanitation system has completely collapsed and people are facing severe inconvenience. He added that Congress had also promised parking facilities, transport hubs, parks and development in all wards, but these promises remain unfulfilled.
Dr. Bindal said that Congress is once again trying to mislead the people with another manifesto filled with false promises. He said Congress must first explain what happened to its 2021 manifesto and give an account of how many promises were actually fulfilled.
Highlighting BJP’s vision, Dr. Bindal stated that the BJP’s Sankalp Patra is not merely a document of promises but a comprehensive roadmap for Solan’s development. BJP has resolved to transform Solan into the cleanest, safest, greenest and smartest city in Himachal Pradesh. The party has promised modern door-to-door garbage collection systems in every ward, establishment of a scientific waste management plant, digital monitoring of sanitation services and an increase in the number of sanitation workers.
He further said that BJP will ensure clean and adequate drinking water supply to every household, regular and time-bound water distribution, and implement a special action plan to prevent leakages. Dedicated water tanks will be developed in every ward and the sewerage network in the city will be expanded and modernized.
Dr. Bindal also emphasized that BJP will prioritize the construction of multi-level parking facilities in key areas of the city. Two-wheeler parking arrangements will be developed in busy markets and crowded zones, while organized vending zones will be established for street vendors. A special cell will also be created within the Municipal Corporation to address the issues faced by local traders.
Speaking on the growing menace of drugs, Dr. Bindal said BJP will launch a strong campaign against “chitta” and other narcotics. Awareness drives will be conducted in schools and colleges, and strict action will be taken against drug mafias with the cooperation of police and society. BJP is committed to making Solan a drug-free city.
He further stated that BJP will work for the welfare of senior citizens, women and differently-abled citizens by creating better public facilities and seating arrangements at public places and pedestrian routes. Municipal services will be fully digitized to ensure timely delivery of birth and death certificates, NOCs and other civic services. Transparency, accountability and a time-bound governance system will be implemented in the Municipal Corporation.
Dr. Bindal said BJP believes in politics of development, transparency and public service. He expressed confidence that the people of Solan will support BJP in the upcoming Municipal Corporation elections and pave the way for good governance and rapid development.
