UT Chandigarh Extends HPV Vaccination Campaign for Eligible Adolescent Girls
Chandigarh, 1 June 2026:The Health Department, UT Chandigarh, has announced a three-month (90 days) extension of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination Campaign as per the directions of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, to ensure maximum coverage of eligible adolescent girls against cervical cancer.
Under the extended campaign, HPV vaccination will be provided free of cost to all eligible girls who are 14 years of age and have not yet attained the age of 15 years. The extension aims to cover beneficiaries who may have missed vaccination during the initial phase of the campaign.
The HPV Vaccine (Gardasil-4) is available at all Government Health Facilities across UT Chandigarh on all six working days of the week. The vaccine is a safe and effective preventive measure against cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases. Health experts emphasize that vaccination at the recommended age offers maximum protection before exposure to the virus.
The Health Department has appealed to parents, guardians, educational institutions, community leaders, and the general public to actively support the campaign and ensure vaccination of all eligible girls.
The Department reiterated its commitment towards safeguarding adolescent health and promoting a cervical cancer-free future for young girls in Chandigarh.

Ayushman Arogya Shivirs Organized at Bapu Dham Colony Under TB Mukt Bharat Campaign
Chandigarh, 1 June 2026:Under the Government of India’s “TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan: 100 Days Campaign”, a series of Ayushman Arogya Shivirs were successfully organized at Bapu Dham Colony, Sector-26, Chandigarh, from 5 May to 29 May 2026 at various religious institutions and community congregate settings.
During the campaign, a total of 1,108 digital chest X-rays and 117 CBNAAT tests were conducted to facilitate early detection and prompt diagnosis of tuberculosis cases. Confirmed patients were immediately linked to treatment services under the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP).
The initiative aimed to reach vulnerable and high-risk populations while strengthening community participation under the theme “YES! We Can End TB: Led by Bharat, Powered by Jan Bhagidari.”
Extensive awareness sessions were organized to educate residents about TB symptoms, transmission, preventive measures, and the availability of free diagnostic and treatment services under the Government of India. Special emphasis was laid on reducing stigma associated with TB and encouraging timely health-seeking behaviour.
The area Councillor also actively participated in the campaign and appealed to residents to contribute collectively towards making the locality TB-free.
The campaign reflects Chandigarh Administration’s continued commitment to TB elimination through early screening, universal access to free healthcare services, and enhanced community engagement.

GITI-28 Organizes Blood Donation Camp
Chandigarh, 1 June 2026:A Blood Donation Camp was successfully organized today at Govt. Model Industrial Training Institute (GITI), Sector 28-C, Chandigarh, in collaboration with PGIMER, Chandigarh. A total of 86 units of blood were donated by trainees and staff members of the institute.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from trainees and staff, while the organizing team ensured smooth arrangements and actively motivated participants to contribute towards the noble cause.
Er. Shri Arun Kumar, Principal, GITI-28C, Chandigarh, appreciated the dedicated efforts of the staff and commended the donors for their valuable contribution to society. Addressing the participants, he emphasized the importance of voluntary blood donation and encouraged trainees to continue participating in humanitarian and social welfare activities.
The camp concluded successfully with active support and cooperation from all stakeholders.
