Chandigarh, July 30:- Reinforcing its commitment to public safety and civic infrastructure, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has undertaken a comprehensive citywide electrical safety drive to ensure the proper upkeep of street light poles, electrical wiring, and allied infrastructure.

Acting on the directions of MC Commissioner Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, the Electricity Wing carried out extensive inspections across the city and immediately repaired exposed (nude) wires, damaged electrical connections, and faulty street light installations. Special taping and insulation of vulnerable wires were also carried out to eliminate potential electrical hazards.

As part of the drive, broken or stolen covers of electrical poles and junction boxes were replaced to prevent accidental contact and enhance the safety of pedestrians and motorists. The initiative aims to provide a secure and well-maintained public environment while ensuring uninterrupted street lighting.

The Municipal Corporation reaffirmed that public safety remains its foremost priority and stated that regular inspections and preventive maintenance of electrical infrastructure will continue across Chandigarh to safeguard citizens and strengthen civic services.
