CHANDIGARH, 17.08.26-The Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO) North, PGIMER, Chandigarh, conducted an Organ Donation Awareness Programme at the Headquarters, Additional Director General Border Roads (North-West), Border Roads Organisation (HQ ADGBR (NW), Chandigarh), as part of “Dhadkan – A Beat for Life: Blood Donation Camp & Organ Donation Awareness Programme” organised by the Border Roads Organisation at its premises.

The programme was organised by HQ ADGBR (NW), Chandigarh, in coordination with ROTTO North, PGIMER, bringing together the causes of blood donation and organ donation under the theme “Give Blood While You Live, Leave Organs When You Leave.”

The awareness programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers and staff and focused on creating greater understanding about deceased and living organ donation, the organ donation process, common myths and misconceptions, and the importance of discussing one’s decision to donate with family members.

Commending the initiative, Shri Rajiv Sharma, VSM, ADG, Office of the ADGBR (NW), Chandigarh, appreciated the initiative and said, “Organ donation is one of the noblest forms of service to humanity. Through Dhadkan – A Beat for Life, we are creating awareness about a cause that can give patients awaiting transplantation a precious second chance at life. I appreciate ROTTO North, PGIMER, for taking this important message to our officers and staff.”

Shri Rajesh Madan, IDAS, Dy. CDA, Office of the JCDA (BR), Chandigarh, said, “Organ donation is a selfless decision that can transform the lives of several individuals and their families. Programmes such as Dhadkan help convert awareness into action by encouraging people to understand organ donation, discuss their wishes with their families and come forward for this noble cause.”

Making the awareness presentation, Ms. Saryu D. Madra, Consultant (IEC/Media), ROTTO North, PGIMER, sensitised participants about the importance of organ donation and transplantation. She explained the process of deceased organ donation, addressed prevalent myths and misconceptions, and emphasised the crucial role of family consent and communication.

Ms. Saryu D. Madra said, “Organ donation is a gift that extends beyond a lifetime. One informed decision, shared with your family, can become a legacy of hope for patients waiting for a transplant. Dhadkan – A Beat for Life sends a powerful message—give blood while you live and leave your organs when you leave.”

Dr. Vijay Tadia, Nodal Officer, ROTTO (North), PGIMER, appreciated the successful conduct of the programme and the initiative taken by the Border Roads Organisation as he said, “The success of Dhadkan – A Beat for Life reflects the commitment of the Border Roads Organisation towards serving society beyond its professional mandate. Blood donation can save lives today, while organ donation can give a new lease of life to patients awaiting transplantation. ROTTO North is privileged to partner in this important awareness initiative.”

The programme concluded with an appeal to participants to embrace the message “Give Blood, Give Organs, Give Hope” and contribute towards building a stronger culture of voluntary donation.

The initiative reaffirmed the shared commitment of HQ ADGBR (NW), Border Roads Organisation, ROTTO North, PGIMER towards promoting the life-saving cause of organ donation and strengthening public awareness about donation.
