Chandigarh, September 9, 2026: The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Chandigarh, under the PM-USHA Scheme (RUSA), organised a panel discussion on 'Corporate Communication and Brand Building in the Digital Age'.
The programme brought together eminent professionals and academicians who shared valuable insights into the rapidly evolving fields of corporate communication, public relations and digital branding. The distinguished speakers included Dr. Rupesh Singh, Head, Corporate Affairs, Adani Group; Ms Renuka Salwan, Former Director, Public Relations, Panjab University and Former Director Bureau of Indian Standards; and Mr. Lalit K. Sharma, Founder and CEO, Mantrin.
The experts discussed the growing importance of strategic communication, reputation management and effective brand building in an increasingly digital and competitive environment. They also highlighted the need for students to develop adaptability, creativity, technological competence and strong communication skills to succeed in the contemporary media and corporate landscape.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rupesh Singh said, “Public Relations is about controlling the narrative in the challenging digital scenario.” Answering a question from the students, Mr. Lalit K. Sharma emphasized the role of proper message construction and speedy dissemination in brand building and reputation management.
The installation ceremony of the YCC Club was also held during the programme, marking an important step towards encouraging student engagement, leadership and professional development. The club has been established in collaboration with the Public Relations Council of India. Sabrina, Diya Aggarwal and Mansha Dham were named the President, Vice President and General Secretary respectively. Ms. Salwan apprised the students of the structure and functions of the PRCI and encouraged them to become proactive communicators.
The in house annual newsletters of the Department 'Expressions' and ‘Mediatainment along with the Club publication ‘Chronicles of Excellence’, were released on the occasion.
Dr. Priya Chadha, Head of the Department, proposed the vote of thanks and stated, “Such interactions with experienced professionals enable our students to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional practice while preparing them for the evolving demands of the communication industry.”
