CHANDIGARH, 28.09.26-The 5th AIIMS–MAMC–PGI Series: 5th Course on Musculoskeletal and Breast Imaging was successfully conducted on September 26–27, 2026, at the NINE Auditorium, Department of Radiodiagnosis & Imaging, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. The two-day academic programme brought together radiologists, postgraduate residents, faculty members and clinicians from across the country for academic exchange and discussion on contemporary developments in musculoskeletal and breast imaging.
The course continued the longstanding academic collaboration between three of India's premier medical institutions - All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi; Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), New Delhi; and PGIMER, Chandigarh. The AIIMS–MAMC–PGI Teaching Course Series was initiated in 1996 with the vision of creating a common platform for high-quality academic interaction and learning. The present course represents the fifth edition of this enduring academic initiative, following previous editions held in 2000, 2005, 2013 and 2020.
The conference was formally inaugurated on the afternoon of September 26, 2026, at the NINE Auditorium. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Dr. M. S. Sandhu, Former Head of the Department of Radiodiagnosis, PGIMER, Chandigarh, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, Dr. M. S. Sandhu, spoke to the assembled delegates and faculty. His address provided an important perspective on the continuing evolution of radiology and the importance of sustained academic interaction and teaching initiatives in postgraduate and professional education.
The ceremony commenced with the floral welcome of the dignitaries, followed by Vande Mataram and Saraswati Vandana. The traditional inauguration and lamp lighting ceremony was subsequently performed by the Chief Guest, Dr. M. S. Sandhu, in the presence of the dignitaries and conference faculty.
This was followed by the welcome address by Dr. Akshay Kumar Saxena, Organising Chairperson, who welcomed the Chief Guest, faculty, delegates and participants and highlighted the significance of continuing the AIIMS–MAMC–PGI academic tradition and emphasised on the rapidly growing sub specialities - Musculoskeletal and Breast Imaging.
The inaugural ceremony concluded with the felicitation of the Chief Guest, followed by the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Veenu Singla, Organising Secretary. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
Faculty from AIIMS, MAMC and PGIMER contributed to this academically diverse programme comprising didactic lectures, multidisciplinary case-based discussions, film-reading sessions, a resident quiz and discussions on contemporary imaging and intervention techniques.
The successful completion of the fifth course further strengthened the longstanding academic association between AIIMS, MAMC and PGIMER, reaffirming the value of collaborative teaching platforms in advancing radiology education and professional development.
