Chandigarh, 28 September— On the birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Haryana’s Energy Minister Sh. Anil Vij today offered floral tributes and paid deep respects at the statue of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh installed at the Mini Secretariat in Ambala Cantt. Amid heavy rain, he also stirred patriotic fervour among those present by raising slogans of “Inquilab Zindabad” and “Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Amar Rahe.”
While interacting with media persons on the occasion, Energy Minister Anil Vij said he was present to offer floral tributes and pay heartfelt homage to Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh. He said that Bhagat Singh embraced the gallows for the country at merely 23 years, 5 months and 23 days of age—an age of aspirations and of dreaming—while laughing and singing “Rang De Basanti Chola.”
Vij added that although Bhagat Singh is no longer physically among us, his memory resides in the heart of every Indian, and it is our duty to build the India of his dreams. “We must continue the fight he began—the fight against the filth spread in society and against corruption—and take this nation to the heights our martyrs envisioned,” he said.
On this occasion, Municipal Council President Swarn Kaur, Vice-President Lalta Prasad, Sanjeev Soni, Jasbir Singh Jassi, Parvesh Sharma, Ajay Baveja, Balkesh Vats, Shashi Longia, Balinderpal Singh, along with BJP workers, were present.
