Punjab Assembly Session Lasts Just 8–10 Minutes, AAP Government Running Away from Accountability: Kewal Singh Dhillon
AAP Government Has Failed on Every Front, Including Drugs, Gangsterism and Law and Order, and Must Answer to the People: Dhillon
Backing the Home Minister’s Claim, BJP Asserts It Will Form the Government; Party Ready to Contest All 117 Assembly Seats: Kewal Singh Dhillon
Chandigarh, October 22:Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon launched a sharp attack on the state government, stating that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab has failed miserably on every front and is running away from its accountability. He said that this was evident from the fact that the Punjab Assembly session today lasted only eight to ten minutes, during which neither Punjab’s concerns were discussed nor any deliberations held on the issues facing the state. This has resulted in a waste of public money worth lakhs and crores of rupees.
Kewal Singh Dhillon said that the government would have to answer for the drug menace, gangsterism, extortion and the deteriorating law-and-order situation. The people of Punjab are demanding answers from the AAP government regarding the deaths of Parminder Singh Jhota, Bikramjit Singh and Gulzar Singh.
Dhillon said that government employees are on strike, while instead of fulfilling their demands, the government is busy intimidating and threatening them. However, the BJP stands firmly with the employees. He added that farmers are struggling in grain markets, drugs are destroying the youth of Punjab, voices raised against drugs are being suppressed, and incidents of firing and murders are occurring almost every day. Yet, the Chief Minister has no time to spare from his leisure trips, while leaders from Delhi, whom he described as having arrived like plunderers, have been looting Punjab for the past four and a half years.
The state BJP president said that the Aam Aadmi Party should stop worrying about the BJP and start focusing on Punjab. Given the situation the AAP government has created in the state, the people of Punjab will no longer tolerate this incompetent government.
Dhillon said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had visited Punjab two days ago and claimed that drugs would be eradicated from the state by December 31, 2029.
He added that the Home Minister had once again reiterated his commitment to eliminating drugs from Punjab at their roots and had also asserted that an NDA government would be formed in the state. This, Dhillon said, meant that the Bharatiya Janata Party would form the government in Punjab.
Kewal Singh Dhillon stated that the BJP was prepared to contest all 117 Assembly constituencies and would enter the electoral fray independently with full preparation. He expressed confidence that the people of Punjab have faith in the party and that the BJP would form a government with a majority in 2027.

What Is the Punjab Government Trying to Hide, and Whom Is It Trying to Protect in the Deaths of Anti-Drug Activists? Ashwani Sharma Asks
Chandigarh, October 22, 2026:What is the Punjab government trying to hide, and whom is it trying to protect in the cases involving the deaths of anti-drug activists? This question was raised by Ashwani Sharma, former Punjab BJP president and MLA from Pathankot. He questioned why the Bhagwant Mann government was reluctant to hand over the cases involving Parvinder Singh Jhota, Gulzar Singh and Bikramjit Singh to the CBI.
Strongly objecting to the adjournment of the Punjab Legislative Assembly’s special session for the entire day on its opening day, Sharma said the government had already pushed Punjab into a state of decline over the past four years. However, he added, the deaths of Parvinder Singh Jhota in Mansa, Gulzar Singh in Sangrur and Bikramjit Singh in Batala over the past month had shaken the government.
He alleged that the government was afraid to face ordinary people on the ground and was also evading questions from the opposition in the Assembly. He said adjourning the special session for the entire day was another attempt to escape accountability.
Sharma pointed out that the entire agenda for the day had already been decided. Despite this, as soon as the Speaker entered the House, tributes were paid and the proceedings were adjourned for the entire day. He said an atmosphere of fear prevailed across the state and people no longer felt safe. Instead of ensuring public safety, he alleged, the police were busy protecting their own police stations. Sharma also criticised the government over issues concerning state employees. He said that despite repeated meetings, government employees had not received their full dearness allowance (DA) payments, while other demands, including the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), remained unfulfilled. He accused the government of betraying its employees.
He assured employees that the Bharatiya Janata Party fully supported their legitimate demands and would provide every possible assistance in their struggle. He demanded that, instead of avoiding discussions on public issues, the government bring the truth to light and fulfil its accountability to the people of Punjab and its employees.

This Is Not a Government of the Aam Adami, but of Goons: Shwet Malik
BJP Leader Slams Punjab Government Over Attack on Shopkeeper with a Sharp Weapon by AAP Leader’s PA in Amritsar
Amritsar, October 22, 2026:Senior Punjab BJP leader Shwet Malik has described the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government as a government of goons. Speaking in Chandigarh on Thursday, he said that Punjab was currently being governed not in the interests of ordinary people, but by goons who were openly attacking members of the public. He said the latest incident reported from Amritsar that day had further reinforced this point.
Shwet Malik said that Maninder Singh, PA to AAP MLA Jeevanjot Kaur from Amritsar East, and his associates allegedly cornered shopkeeper Ashwani Kumar in a market and launched a potentially fatal attack on him. The shopkeeper was stabbed in the abdomen with a sharp-edged weapon, known as a kirch, leaving him seriously injured and requiring hospitalisation.
He said this was not an isolated incident. Similar incidents had been reported from various parts of Punjab over the past few weeks. A video went viral showing AAP MLA Gurdev Dev Mann allegedly publicly assaulting a young man in Nabha. In Phagwara, a case was registered against AAP leader Gursimran Singh over allegations that he entered the residence of a young Shiromani Akali Dal leader and assaulted him after the latter refused to join the AAP. Similarly, in Ludhiana, AAP MLA Rajinder Kaur Chhina was accused of slapping a tipper truck driver.
Shwet Malik said that under the Bhagwant Mann government, everyone from MLAs to their personal assistants and party workers was throwing their weight around and intimidating ordinary citizens. He said the people of Punjab had voted these leaders into power believing they represented the common man, but those very leaders and their associates were now assaulting ordinary citizens.
He called the situation deeply shameful and said the people of Punjab would no longer tolerate this lawlessness and goonda raj.
