CHANDIGARH, 04.11.25-Former Municipal Councillor Shakti Prakash Devshali praised Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla’s decision to broadcast the Municipal Corporation meeting live to the public, describing it as a historic step, and appreciated all officers and councillors of the Corporation for their efforts.

Devshali said that this live telecast is important for the citizens of Chandigarh so they can see how the councillors they elected bring new proposals for the development of their wards and what plans they have for the city’s future. However, he expressed regret that the councillors elected from the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress have turned the House into nothing but a political arena.

He remarked that watching live broadcast, the people of Chandigarh must have realized that those they voted for in the name of free water and free electricity are now wasting public money on useless debates instead of focusing on the agenda of development.

He added that the live telecast of the Municipal House proceedings has revealed the truth of those leaders who used to mislead the public and gain sympathy by speaking falsehoods. Now, those citizens who were deceived by false promises feel betrayed.

Devshali further said that only one meeting of the House is held each month, yet the councillors from the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress waste valuable time in blame games and accusations, obstructing the progress of development works in the city. The kind of debates these councillors hold in the House clearly shows their lack of political maturity and vision.

He emphasized that the leaders sitting in the House must understand that every citizen of the city is watching their actions, evaluating their conduct and contributions to development. Therefore, councillors should not turn the House into a political battleground but rather use it as a platform for development work, cooperating and making collective, sincere efforts for the city’s overall growth.
