Bilaspur, January 16, 2026-The historic and culturally significant State-Level Nalwari Fair 2026 of Bilaspur will be organized from March 17 to March 23, 2026. With the objective of ensuring the successful and smooth conduct of the fair, the district administration has initiated preparations. In this regard, the first preliminary meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar, in which officers from various departments participated.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the Nalwari Fair is the largest and most prestigious fair of Bilaspur district and therefore no shortcomings should be allowed at any level in its organization. He stated that the administration is working with full seriousness to make the fair more attractive, grand, and people-centric compared to previous years.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the formation of separate committees for cultural programs, sports competitions, cattle fair, exhibitions, traffic management, and all other related activities. He instructed all concerned officers to ensure the formation of these committees within 15 days, after which another review meeting will be convened soon.
To further enhance the appeal of the fair, suggestions were invited from all officers. The Deputy Commissioner directed them to come to the next meeting with concrete, practical, and innovative suggestions so that the Nalwari Fair can be given a renewed identity.

He informed that, in addition to cultural activities, wrestling competitions as well as state-level and district-level sports events will remain major attractions of the fair.

Discussions were also held regarding the organization of events such as senior citizens’ race, baby show, dog show, mehndi competition, and rangoli competition. Additionally, the publication of a souvenir during the fair was discussed, which will include literary works of district writers and poets, along with articles highlighting the rich history of Bilaspur and the historical significance of the Nalwari Fair.

Special emphasis was laid on ensuring entertainment for all sections of society through cultural programs, while also giving due importance to the promotion and propagation of Bilaspur’s local culture, traditions, and cultural heritage.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that fairs, festivals, and celebrations are an integral part of our ancient and valuable folk cultural heritage. Traditionally known as a cattle fair, Nalwari Fair has evolved over time with the inclusion of diverse activities to make it more comprehensive and attractive, with the aim of achieving recognition at national and international levels. He added that while preserving the original character of the fair, the administration is committed to giving it a more grand and modern form.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner also informed that a special logo will be designed for the State-Level Nalwari Fair this year. A logo design competition will be organized, and the creator of the most attractive and suitable logo will be awarded by the administration. He said that this initiative aims to give the Nalwari Fair a distinct identity and provide an opportunity to youth and creative talents to showcase their skills.

Appealing to the general public, the Deputy Commissioner urged citizens to submit their positive and creative suggestions to the Assistant Commissioner’s Office to make the State-Level Nalwari Fair 2026 memorable and successful. He clarified that this was the first preliminary meeting and several more meetings related to the fair’s organization will be held in the coming days to finalize all arrangements in a timely manner.

The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Sandeep Dhawal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Om Kant Thakur, Assistant Commissioner Rajkumar, and officers from all concerned departments.
