CHANDIGARH, 26.01.26-Government Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities (GRIID), Sector-31C, Chandigarh, celebrated the 77th Republic Day with great patriotic zeal. Prof. G. P. Thami, Director-Principal, GMCH-cum-Director, GRIID, was the Chief Guest of the Republic Day celebration. Dr. Dasari Harish, Medical Superintendent, GMCH, also graced the occasion with his presence.
The programme commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag by the Chief Guest, Medical Superintendent, Joint Director, and other staff members of GRIID, followed by the National Anthem. In another UT-level programme, students of the GRIID Special School and College represented the institution and presented cultural performances at the Parade Ground, Sector-17, Chandigarh.
Prof. G. P. Thami, Director, GRIID, read out the institution’s progress report highlighting the achievements of the past six months. In his address, Prof. Thami emphasized the significance of Republic Day, stating that Indians are fortunate to live under the world’s largest written Constitution. He also highlighted the notable achievements of various sections of GRIID, including the School, Clinic, and College. He further congratulated the staff members for their immense contribution and dedicated efforts in ensuring a dignified life for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Thereafter, students of the Special School and College presented various cultural programmes, including solo and group dances on patriotic songs, with great enthusiasm. Commendation awards were also presented to students and staff members for their meritorious services.
The Republic Day celebration concluded with the distribution of sweets among students, staff members, and parents.
