Chandigarh, May 11:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has appointed Junior Engineers (JEs) of the Roads Wing Stores as Nodal Officers for better management and facilitation of registered street vendors at designated vending zones across the city.

The initiative has been taken to improve basic facilities and ensure quick resolution of issues faced by registered street vendors.

The designated Nodal Officers will look after maintenance and availability of essential amenities at vending sites including drinking water, toilet facilities, cleanliness, drainage system, lighting arrangements, waste disposal and parking facilities.

The officers will also address grievances of registered street vendors and coordinate with concerned departments for smooth service delivery at vending zones.

To ensure proper monitoring, the Nodal Officers have been directed to conduct daily inspections of vending sites.

The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has also identified various PWD Stores across the city which will work as support centres for the Nodal Officers and maintenance teams. These centres will help in storage, logistics and other maintenance-related activities for vending zones.

Under the deployment plan, different vending zones have been assigned to designated officers area-wise. These include sectors from 7 to 53, along with Dhanas, Maloya, Dadu Majra, Burail, IT Park and Manimajra.

The step has been taken to strengthen facilities for registered street vendors and ensure better management, cleanliness and civic infrastructure at vending zones across Chandigarh.

The concerned Executive Engineers and SDEs of the Roads Wing have been directed to ensure strict compliance of the instructions by all designated Nodal Officers.
