Chandigarh, May 23- Haryana Governor and Chancellor of Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh, on Saturday called upon young medical graduates to dedicate themselves to service with compassion, ethics and a spirit of commitment. He said that medicine is not merely a profession but a sacred responsibility towards humanity.
The Governor was addressing the 5th Convocation Ceremony of Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak. First Lady of Haryana, Smt Mitra Ghosh also graced the occasion.
Degrees were conferred upon 950 students across various disciplines, while 68 meritorious students were awarded gold medals for their academic excellence. On this occasion, the Governor also released the University’s annual souvenir.
Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh congratulated the graduating students and their parents and said that convocation marks not only the culmination of an academic journey but also the beginning of a life of responsibility and service.
Paying tribute to Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma, the first Chief Minister of Haryana and a freedom fighter, the Governor said that the University, inspired by his ideals, is effectively carrying forward the ethos of “Seva Parmo Dharma”.
The Governor lauded the achievements of the University in the fields of medical education, research, healthcare services and public welfare. He said that the institution has established a distinct identity at the national level in medical, dental and pharmacy education.
Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh also appreciated initiatives such as tele-consultation services and ‘Swasthya Aapke Dwar’ programme, stating that these efforts have strengthened healthcare accessibility and enhanced public health awareness.
The Governor also appreciated the organ donation awareness campaign being conducted through SOTTO Haryana under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor. He said that the initiative has brought new hope to several families and reflects the principle that there is no greater donation than the gift of life.
Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh also commended the inspirational leadership of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, noting that the “Mann Ki Baat” programme has significantly contributed to enhancing public awareness and participation in organ donation across the country.
The Governor said that during their clinical training, young doctors witness the immense trust that patients place in them and the deep satisfaction that comes from saving lives. He urged them to allow their knowledge to be guided by compassion, skills by ethics, and decisions by a spirit of service.
Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh further stated that there is a continuing need for dedicated medical professionals, particularly in rural and underserved areas, and expressed confidence that the graduates would contribute meaningfully to healthcare delivery, research, innovation and medical advancement.
Vice Chancellor, Dr. H.K. Aggarwal said that the convocation is not merely an academic milestone but a commitment towards social responsibility and healthcare service. He congratulated the graduates from medical, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, pharmacy and allied health sciences streams, and also felicitated the 68 medal winners.
He further said that healthcare is a mission of service to humanity. He called upon students to work with dedication for the welfare of the poor and underprivileged sections of society.
Highlighting technological advancements, Dr. H.K. Aggarwal said that artificial intelligence, telemedicine and digital health systems are transforming healthcare delivery. He informed that the University, which started in 2008 with 59 affiliated colleges, is now associated with 165 colleges across the State.
He further stated that six successful organ donations have been facilitated by the University and 38 kidney transplants have been conducted at PGIMS with a 100 percent success rate. He added that Rs. 5 crore has been allocated this year to strengthen research activities. Registrar of the University, Dr. Roop Singh, thanked all dignitaries and guests for their presence.
The ceremony was attended by former Minister, Sh. Manish Kumar Grover, Vice Chancellor, Maharshi Dayanand University Prof. Milap Punia and other senior faculty members and officer.

Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri to be announced on Republic Day
Chandigarh, May 23 – The Haryana Government has invited nominations for recommendations for the prestigious Padma Awards, including Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. These awards, among the highest civilian honours in the country, will be announced on 26 January 2027 on the occasion of Republic Day.
Sharing more details in this regard, an official spokesperson informed that recommendations for these Padma Awards may be sent to political 2.hry@gmail.com or hrathee.cso@hry.gov.in by 10 June 2026. Only nominations submitted through the online portal https://awards.gov.in will be accepted by the Government of India. Online nominations/recommendations for these awards began on March15, 2026, and the last date for submission is July 31, 2026.
The spokesperson said that the Padma Awards, namely Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, are considered the highest civilian awards in the country. Started in 1954, these awards are announced every year on Republic Day. The objective of these awards is to honour “distinguished work”. The awards are conferred for exceptional and distinguished achievements or services in various fields such as arts, literature and education, sports, medicine, social work, science and engineering, public affairs, civil service, trade and industry. These awards are open to all individuals without any discrimination based on caste, occupation, position or gender.
The spokesperson further stated that all nominations/recommendations for the Padma Awards will be accepted only through the National Awards portal https://awards.gov.in. In the nominations/recommendations, all required details must be clearly filled in the prescribed format available on the portal, providing complete details of the individual’s distinguished and exceptional achievements or services in their respective field. All steps of the online recommendation process are available on the portal. A copy of the relevant Act and Rules is also available on the website https://padmaawards.gov.in.
The spokesperson added that, except for doctors and scientists, government employees and employees working in public sector undertakings are not eligible for the Padma Awards.

Development works worth Rs. 13.29 crore to be undertaken in the district under DDMC in the current financial year
Meeting of the District Development and Monitoring Committee held under the chairmanship of Krishan Kumar Bedi
Chandigarh, May 23- Haryana Social Justice, Empowerment, SCs & BCs Welfare and Antyodaya (SEWA) Minister , Sh. Krishan Kumar Bedi on Saturday chaired a meeting of the District Development and Monitoring Committee in the conference hall of the Mini Secretariat, Fatehabad.
In the meeting, approval was granted for the development works to be undertaken under the District Development Plan for the year 2026–27.
It was informed in the meeting that under the District Development and Monitoring Committee, various development works worth Rs. 13 crore 29 lakh 41 thousand will be undertaken in the district this year. Out of this, Rs. 7 crore 40 lakh 89 thousand has been allocated for development works in the general category, while Rs. 5 crore 88 lakh 52 thousand has been earmarked for development works for the Scheduled Caste category.
The Cabinet Minister directed the officers that all approved development works should be completed within the stipulated time frame so that no grant lapses occur. He said that maintaining quality in development works is the primary responsibility of the officers and any negligence in construction work will not be tolerated.
He further directed the officers to expedite the construction works under the Committee and to work with a positive approach and better coordination.
Sh. Krishan Kumar Bedi further directed that the concerned officers should inspect the development works from time to time, and if any issue arises, it should be brought to his notice immediately so that it can be resolved in time.
It was informed in the meeting that under the District Development Plan for the financial year 2025–26, an amount of Rs. 14 crore 86 lakh 32 thousand had been approved. Out of this, Rs. 8 crore 91 lakh 79 thousand was allocated for the general category and Rs. 5 crore 94 lakh 53 thousand for Scheduled Caste development works. Furthermore, under the 2026–27 plan, Rs. 10 crore 33 lakh 50 thousand will be spent in rural areas and Rs. 2 crore 95 lakh 91 thousand in urban areas.
Sh. Krishan Kumar Bedi directed the officers to ensure inspection of ongoing development works under the District Development Plan so that development projects are completed in a time-bound and transparent manner.

Minister directs to maintain smooth drinking water supply and encourages citizens to conserve electricity*
Chandigarh, May 23 – Haryana Social Justice, Empowerment, SCs & BCs Welfare and Antyodaya (SEWA) Minister, Sh. Krishan Kumar Bedi, said that timely resolution of public grievances is among the government’s top priorities. He directed officers to deal with citizens’ complaints with seriousness, sensitivity and accountability so that people do not face unnecessary inconvenience.
The Minister gave these directions while chairing a meeting of the District Public Relations and Grievances Committee held in Fatehabad on Saturday. A total of 12 cases related to different departments were heard during the meeting.
The Minister also reviewed the progress reports of the cases from the concerned officers and instructed them to ensure the early disposal of pending matters.
During the meeting, Sh. Krishan Kumar Bedi clearly said that complainants who register grievances before the committee must remain present during the hearing. He said the complainant should personally inform the committee whether he or she is satisfied with the departmental action taken. This would help ensure fair and transparent disposal of cases, he said.
Ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply during summer- Minister
While hearing one of the cases, the Minister directed officers of the Public Health Engineering Department to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply across the district in view of the rising summer temperatures and to prevent water shortages in any village or area.
In another complaint raised by residents of village Pili Mandori regarding drinking water issues, the Minister directed the officers to ensure regular and adequate supply of clean drinking water in the village.
He further directed that a TDS test of the water quality be conducted and the report submitted to the DC office by Monday.
Meanwhile, the departmental officers informed the meeting that a project worth Rs 6.72 crore had already been approved to strengthen the drinking water system in the village and that work would begin soon after completion of the tender process.
Detailed report sought in illegal construction matter
Taking cognisance of a complaint regarding road construction in violation of rules in an illegal colony in the Ratia area, the Minister directed the DMC to inspect the site and submit a detailed report in the next meeting. He said all construction work must strictly adhere to the prescribed rules and any irregularity should invite action against the responsible persons as per regulations.
Directions issued for impartial inquiry into complaints
While hearing a complaint submitted by Babita, a resident of village Gajuwala, the Minister directed the police department to conduct a fair and thorough inquiry into the complaints made by both parties. He said strict legal action should be ensured against whoever is found guilty so that public faith in law and order remains intact.
Strict action against unrecognised schools
During the hearing of a complaint filed by Rakesh Kumar, a resident of village Ban Mandori, the Minister directed the Education Department to ensure that no unrecognised school is allowed to operate in the district. The DEEO informed the meeting that action had already been taken against the concerned school and it had been shut down. However, after the complainant expressed dissatisfaction, the Minister directed the department to conduct a fresh inquiry and submit a factual report.
He further said that if the school is found closed and the complaint proves baseless, action could also be initiated against the complainant as per rules.
Make water and energy conservation a habit
Appealing to citizens to conserve water and energy, Sh. Krishan Kumar Bedi said that saving water and electricity is the need of the hour. He urged every citizen to use these resources judiciously so that natural resources can be preserved for future generations.

Community Farm Tanks to Ensure Irrigation Water Reaches Every Field; Micro-Irrigation to be Implemented- Chief Minister

Chandigarh, May 23- Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the State Government is committed to ensuring adequate irrigation water reaches every field. For this purpose, the Irrigation Department should form farmer groups and construct community tanks for every 10 acres or more of agricultural land. These tanks will be filled with canal water, and irrigation will be carried out through micro-irrigation systems. The Government will provide 85 percent subsidy for the construction of such tanks, said Sh. Nayab Singh Saini.
The Chief Minister said this while chairing a review meeting of the Irrigation and Water Resources Department’s five-year action plan under Haryana Vision-2047 held at the Civil Secretariat on Saturday. He said that the department must move beyond traditional irrigation systems and, in line with the concept of “Per Drop – More Crop” of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, the department must prepare future-ready plans aligned with developed countries that efficiently manage limited water resources, in order to achieve the goals of Viksit Bharat-2047.
He said that despite limited water resources, their optimum utilisation is possible, and departmental schemes must be visible on the ground. He directed that farmers be made aware to reduce open-field irrigation practices. The cost of irrigation for farmers will be minimized, and under the new system, farmers will not need to install tube wells for irrigation.
The Chief Minister directed that this initiative should initially be implemented in nine districts namely Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Gurugram, Mahendragarh, Nuh, Rewari, Hisar, Jhajjar and Sirsa where farmer groups will be formed and community tanks constructed for land holdings of 10 acres or more, with 85 percent government subsidy. He said that water will be supplied to these tanks through canal pipelines, and solar panels will be installed on them.
The Chief Minister said that drip and sprinkler irrigation systems will be implemented in the connected fields, enabling farmers to irrigate crops as per requirement. This will eliminate the need for tubewells and reduce dependence on electricity and water availability. Open-field irrigation will be discontinued, enabling more area to be irrigated with less water. He said that micro-irrigation systems should be introduced in sugarcane and cotton crops from this year, said Sh. Nayab Singh Saini.
The Chief Minister said that the Irrigation Department may initiate tenders this year to convert entire village agricultural land into micro-irrigation systems in the selected nine districts, involving modern agri-technology companies. This will enable farmers to receive irrigation water in a smart and efficient manner without additional expenditure, he said.
The Chief Minister further directed the Principal Secretary, Department of Future, Smt. Amneet P. Kumar, to study irrigation technologies used in developed countries such as Israel and assist in modernising irrigation systems in the State.
The Chief Minister further said that a comprehensive plan should be prepared for repair, renovation, and strengthening of all canals in the State, with fixed timelines, and regular progress reports should be submitted. He said that monthly reviews will be conducted to assess water savings and farmer benefits.
Additional Chief Secretary, Irrigation & Water Resources Department, Sh. Anurag Agarwal informed that there is a shortage of technically skilled manpower in the micro-irrigation sector. In response, the Chief Minister directed that a new micro-irrigation trade be introduced in all Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) of the State from this year to develop skilled manpower and provide employment opportunities to youth.
The Chief Minister also directed joint awareness campaigns by the Irrigation and Agriculture Departments to encourage farmers to adopt micro-irrigation and reduce dependence on tubewells, while promoting government subsidy schemes. He further emphasized maximum use of treated wastewater for agricultural irrigation and issued comprehensive directions regarding water management.

Haryana Vision-2047: CM reviews 5-Year Plan of Public Health Engineering Department
Ensure uninterrupted access to Clean Drinking Water and Sewerage Facilities- Nayab Singh Saini
Chandigarh, May 23- Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday directed the Public Health Engineering Department to prepare a time-bound five-year action plan to ensure provision of clean drinking water and sewerage facilities up to every household across the State.
Chairing a review meeting on the department’s roadmap under Haryana Vision-2047 at the Haryana Civil Secretariat, the Chief Minister reiterated that drinking water and sanitation remain top government priorities and called for adoption of global best practices in service delivery.
He reviewed the status of water supply and sewerage infrastructure in urban and rural areas, including 100-square-yard plots allotted by the Government and newly approved colonies, and further directed the officers concerned to ensure complete coverage of basic civic services in a time-bound manner.
The Commissioner and Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department, Sh. J. Ganesan, presented the five-year roadmap, outlining proposals for strengthening water supply systems, expanding sewerage networks, reuse of treated wastewater, centralized monitoring of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs), and deployment of AI-based grievance analysis systems.
The Chief Minister directed preparation of a plan for setting up water treatment plants for every 5,000 population and ensuring canal-based supply to all waterworks. He also emphasized prioritization of drinking water, sewerage, power, and road infrastructure in regularized colonies and allotted plots.
Calling for development of smart cities with 24x7 water supply, he suggested pilot implementation in select cities such as Gurugram, where 100 percent of households have metered water connections. He also directed minimizing water loss by transporting canal water to treatment facilities through pipelines.
On sewerage systems, the Chief Minister directed comprehensive household coverage and upgradation of ageing infrastructure through modern techniques to reduce road-cutting inconvenience. He stressed designing sewerage systems with long-term capacity of 50–60 years and promoting reuse of treated wastewater for industrial and agricultural use.
The Chief Minister further directed improved coordination among departments to avoid repeated road excavations for utilities such as water, sewerage, gas, internet, and oil pipelines, and proposed a dedicated mechanism to regulate permissions for such works.

Shaheed Smarak in Ambala to be inaugurated soon – Energy Minister
Energy Minister holds meeting with officers of various departments at Shaheed Smarak and issues directions
Chandigarh, May 23 — Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said that the Shaheed Smarak dedicated to the First War of Independence of 1857 will be inaugurated soon. He directed the concerned officers and authorities that as Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini recently visited and reviewed the memorial, all remaining minor works should now be completed on a war footing by the concerned departments and agencies.
The Energy Minister on Saturday chaired a meeting of officers from various departments at the Shaheed Smarak in Ambala Cantonment. Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Ajay Singh Tomar, SDM Ambala Cantonment, Ms. Kanika Goyal, and Director Shaheed Smarak, Dr. Kuldeep Saini were also present on the occasion.
Chairing the meeting, Sh. Anil Vij said that the Smarak being constructed in honour of the First War of Independence is a national-level Smarak and tourists and visitors will come here to witness its grandeur and beauty. Keeping this in mind, all pending minor works related to the memorial must be completed with full dedication and urgency. He also expressed confidence that Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi would inaugurate the memorial.
During the meeting, after reviewing updates from the concerned agencies and departments, Sh. Anil Vij issued directions regarding better ticketing arrangements, ensuring that no unauthorized entry or exit gates are installed, proper lighting arrangements inside the museum, lighting along stairways, installation of ramps, railings in the memorial premises, pathways extending from the galleries to the outer areas, and several other aspects related to visitor convenience and safety. He emphasized that since the inauguration of the Shaheed Smarak is nearing, all works should be carried out on a war footing.
The Energy Minister also directed the Project Director of the National Highways Authority of India to make arrangements for an accelerator lane outside the memorial on GT Road and to install decorative lighting and undertake plantation along the GT Road. He further directed the Executive Engineer of the PWD Electrical Wing to ensure high-quality lighting arrangements both inside and outside the memorial so that visitors can appreciate the beauty of the Smarak during night-time as well.
Sh. Anil Vij also directed that factual details showing that the First War of Independence had actually begun from Ambala Cantonment, nearly 10 hours before the uprising in Meerut should be prominently displayed. He said these historical events and details should be showcased through 3D technology so that tourists and visitors can gain complete knowledge about the First War of Independence, its events, and historical significance. He added that this grand memorial would become a source of inspiration for youth and future generations.
On this occasion, Dr. Kuldeep Saini gave a detailed presentation regarding the works already completed under the grand memorial project and the remaining tasks yet to be finished.

Libraries to be set up in all 395 Gram Panchayats- Union Minister Manohar Lal
Chandigarh, May 23 – Union Minister for Power and Urban Development, Sh. Manohar Lal, said that this is the era of education and learning, and education is essential for the younger generation. To strengthen educational opportunities along with school education and to provide coaching-like facilities within villages, libraries will be established in all 395 gram panchayats of Karnal district so that youth can access facilities for competitive exam preparation at the village level itself.
During his scheduled visit on Saturday, the Union Minister toured several villages in Nilokheri Assembly constituency where he directly interacted with the public and addressed their grievances. He will also visit villages in Assandh Assembly constituency on Sunday.
The Union Minister said that in Haryana jobs are being provided to educated youth on the basis of merit, whereas in earlier governments, jobs were given to favourites through recommendations and monetary influence. He said that this system has been changed, which has boosted the confidence of students, as now only deserving candidates get government employment. This shift has also led to increased attendance of youth in coaching centres, said Sh. Manohar Lal.
He further said that in order to provide coaching-like facilities to rural youth within their own villages, the decision has been taken to open libraries in all gram panchayats. Along with this, priorities also include construction of boundary walls and sheds in cremation grounds, development of pucca roads, and ensuring proper drinking water supply in villages.
Sh. Manohar Lal also highlighted that under the Mhara Gaon-Jagmag Gaon scheme, 24-hour electricity supply is being ensured in the state, whereas earlier there used to be power shortages and people were forced to protest by blocking roads.
He said that on May 21, the highest-ever electricity supply in the country was recorded, with uninterrupted supply of 270.80 gigawatts against demand. Currently, the country has an availability of 283 gigawatts, and preparations are being made to handle up to 300 gigawatts in the future. A decade ago, even meeting a demand of 250 gigawatts was not possible.
Sh. Manohar Lal further shared that in 2014, line losses in the state were around 34 percent, which have now been reduced to 11 percent. He also said that the energy sector is rapidly evolving, with electric vehicles now being available for transportation and solar energy being widely promoted. Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, 3 kW solar panels are being installed in households.
The Union Minister appealed to the public to take benefit of government schemes and contribute towards making the country energy self-reliant. He also encouraged farmers to install solar pumps for irrigation and generate surplus electricity to sell to the government, thereby increasing their income.

Narendra Modi, the department must prepare future-ready plans aligned with developed countries that efficiently manage limited water resources, in order to achieve the goals of Viksit Bharat-2047.
He said that despite limited water resources, their optimum utilisation is possible, and departmental schemes must be visible on the ground. He directed that farmers be made aware to reduce open-field irrigation practices. The cost of irrigation for farmers will be minimized, and under the new system, farmers will not need to install tube wells for irrigation.
The Chief Minister directed that this initiative should initially be implemented in nine districts namely Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Gurugram, Mahendragarh, Nuh, Rewari, Hisar, Jhajjar and Sirsa where farmer groups will be formed and community tanks constructed for land holdings of 10 acres or more, with 85 percent government subsidy. He said that water will be supplied to these tanks through canal pipelines, and solar panels will be installed on them.
The Chief Minister said that drip and sprinkler irrigation systems will be implemented in the connected fields, enabling farmers to irrigate crops as per requirement. This will eliminate the need for tubewells and reduce dependence on electricity and water availability. Open-field irrigation will be discontinued, enabling more area to be irrigated with less water. He said that micro-irrigation systems should be introduced in sugarcane and cotton crops from this year, said Sh. Nayab Singh Saini.
The Chief Minister said that the Irrigation Department may initiate tenders this year to convert entire village agricultural land into micro-irrigation systems in the selected nine districts, involving modern agri-technology companies. This will enable farmers to receive irrigation water in a smart and efficient manner without additional expenditure, he said.
The Chief Minister further directed the Principal Secretary, Department of Future, Smt. Amneet P. Kumar, to study irrigation technologies used in developed countries such as Israel and assist in modernising irrigation systems in the State.
The Chief Minister further said that a comprehensive plan should be prepared for repair, renovation, and strengthening of all canals in the State, with fixed timelines, and regular progress reports should be submitted. He said that monthly reviews will be conducted to assess water savings and farmer benefits.
Additional Chief Secretary, Irrigation & Water Resources Department, Sh. Anurag Agarwal informed that there is a shortage of technically skilled manpower in the micro-irrigation sector. In response, the Chief Minister directed that a new micro-irrigation trade be introduced in all Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) of the State from this year to develop skilled manpower and provide employment opportunities to youth.
The Chief Minister also directed joint awareness campaigns by the Irrigation and Agriculture Departments to encourage farmers to adopt micro-irrigation and reduce dependence on tubewells, while promoting government subsidy schemes. He further emphasized maximum use of treated wastewater for agricultural irrigation and issued comprehensive directions regarding water management.

Chandigarh, May 23- Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday directed the Public Health Engineering Department to prepare a time-bound five-year action plan to ensure provision of clean drinking water and sewerage facilities up to every household across the State.
Chairing a review meeting on the department’s roadmap under Haryana Vision-2047 at the Haryana Civil Secretariat, the Chief Minister reiterated that drinking water and sanitation remain top government priorities and called for adoption of global best practices in service delivery.
He reviewed the status of water supply and sewerage infrastructure in urban and rural areas, including 100-square-yard plots allotted by the Government and newly approved colonies, and further directed the officers concerned to ensure complete coverage of basic civic services in a time-bound manner.
The Commissioner and Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department, Sh. J. Ganesan, presented the five-year roadmap, outlining proposals for strengthening water supply systems, expanding sewerage networks, reuse of treated wastewater, centralized monitoring of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs), and deployment of AI-based grievance analysis systems.
The Chief Minister directed preparation of a plan for setting up water treatment plants for every 5,000 population and ensuring canal-based supply to all waterworks. He also emphasized prioritization of drinking water, sewerage, power, and road infrastructure in regularized colonies and allotted plots.
Calling for development of smart cities with 24x7 water supply, he suggested pilot implementation in select cities such as Gurugram, where 100 percent of households have metered water connections. He also directed minimizing water loss by transporting canal water to treatment facilities through pipelines.
On sewerage systems, the Chief Minister directed comprehensive household coverage and upgradation of ageing infrastructure through modern techniques to reduce road-cutting inconvenience. He stressed designing sewerage systems with long-term capacity of 50–60 years and promoting reuse of treated wastewater for industrial and agricultural use.
The Chief Minister further directed improved coordination among departments to avoid repeated road excavations for utilities such as water, sewerage, gas, internet, and oil pipelines, and proposed a dedicated mechanism to regulate permissions for such works.

Chandigarh, May 23-Reinforcing the Haryana Government’s focus on accountable and citizen-centric governance, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday directed officer and Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associates (CMGGAs) to intensify efforts towards effective implementation of public welfare schemes and swift resolution of people’s grievances at the grassroots level.
Chairing a high-level review meeting at Sant Kabir Kutir with CMGGAs, the Chief Minister said the true measure of governance lies in how efficiently government services and welfare benefits reach the last person in society. Calling for greater sensitivity and responsiveness in administration, he asserted that even the smallest issue faced by citizens should be treated with seriousness and resolved in a time-bound manner.
Invoking Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the Chief Minister urged CMGGAs to serve as a strong bridge between the government and the people by providing real-time grassroots feedback and helping strengthen policy execution across sectors.
He asserted that even the smallest grievance of citizens must be addressed with sensitivity and urgency, adding that effective last-mile delivery of schemes is the real benchmark of good governance.
During the interaction, CMGGAs from different batches and sectors shared their field experiences and feedback from across the state. The Chief Minister directed them to submit detailed briefing notes to the Chief Minister’s Office outlining challenges faced during field implementation, the level of coordination received from departments and officials, projects that have shown visible progress, and areas where further policy attention or administrative intervention is required. Several suggestions aimed at improving governance delivery were also presented during the meeting.
Highlighting the importance of grassroots feedback in policymaking, the Chief Minister said field-level insights play a crucial role in making government schemes more effective, result-oriented and citizen-focused. He urged officials and associates to maintain continuous coordination and proactive engagement at the grassroots to ensure prompt resolution of public issues.
During the meeting detailed discussions on education, healthcare services, Deendayal welfare schemes, Jansamvad grievance redressal, water management and other flagship programmes were also done.
The Chief Minister directed officers to ensure regular monitoring of schemes to guarantee transparency and timely delivery of services. He also called for prompt and concrete action on complaints received under the Jansamvad programme.

Social Harmony Key to Village Development- Vidhan Sabha Speaker
Chandigarh, May 23 – Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Sh. Harvinder Kalyan on Saturday inaugurated the renovation work of the road connecting Araipura and Bassi Akbarpur villages in Karnal District . A total amount of Rs 67.31 lakh has been spent on the renovation of this 2.61-km-long road. The renovation work has been carried out by the Zila Parishad. On this occasion, the Speaker appealed to villagers to maintain brotherhood and stay away from factionalism and group politics.
The Vidhan Sabha Speaker said that the demand for the renovation of the Araipura and Bassi Akbarpur road had been pending for a long time. He further said that numerous development works have been carried out in the area over the last 11 years and the remaining pending works would also be completed. New development works as per public demand would also be taken forward, he said.
The Speaker said that apart from this road, development works worth Rs 85 lakh have also been approved for the village and work on them will begin soon. He also assured that efforts would be made to undertake the pond-related works in the village at the earliest.
Referring to the recently organised five-day religious event in Gharaunda, Sh. Harvinder Kalyan said that an extraordinary spirit of service and discipline was witnessed during the programme. Lakhs of devotees participated in the event. Despite shortage of seating arrangements, devotees maintained peace, harmony and brotherhood throughout the programme. All political, religious and social organisations of the town collectively contributed to making the event successful, he said.

Chandigarh, May 23- Haryana Industry and Commerce Minister, Rao Narbir Singh on Saturday said that infrastructure in Gurugram is being rapidly strengthened and development works are gaining new momentum. He was addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone of 27 development projects worth more than Rs. 28 crore in Ward 3, Ward 4 and Ward 6 under the Municipal Corporation Gurugram.
The Cabinet Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi and Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, both the Central and State Governments are ensuring that development schemes are implemented on the ground in a time-bound and effective manner by directly linking them with public welfare. He said that the objective of the Government is not merely to announce projects, but to complete them within stipulated timelines so that citizens can derive direct benefits.
Rao Narbir Singh further said that special emphasis is being laid on strengthening basic civic infrastructure in both urban and rural areas. Projects related to roads, sewerage, drainage, drinking water supply, electricity and other essential civic amenities are being taken up on priority to ensure improved living standards for citizens.
Highlighting the issue of waterlogging, the Cabinet Minister said that the problem of water accumulation in Dharampur village and surrounding areas has persisted for a long time. He informed that the State Government is working seriously towards a permanent solution and he is personally coordinating with the Government of Delhi and the Government of India in this regard, so that the affected areas can be effectively freed from waterlogging.
The Minister further said that the government is also working with a broader vision to develop the area as an attractive tourist destination. The proposed plan includes development of picnic spots, parking facilities, shopping areas and other modern recreational amenities, which will not only enhance the region’s attractiveness but also generate employment opportunities for local residents, he said.
Appealing to the citizens, Rao Narbir Singh urged active participation in environmental conservation. He said that the use of polythene must be completely stopped and maximum plantation should be undertaken during the rainy season. He emphasized that public participation is essential in building a clean, green and sustainable environment.
Under Ward No. 3, development works worth approximately Rs. 2 crore 24 lakh 68 thousand have been initiated. These works will significantly improve traffic movement, drainage system, sanitation and basic civic infrastructure in the area.
In Ward No. 4, development projects worth approximately Rs. 11 crore 3 lakh 51 thousand have been launched. These projects will substantially improve civic amenities and quality of life of residents.
In Ward No. 6, development works worth Rs. 15 crore have been initiated. These projects will strengthen water supply and road connectivity, thereby directly benefiting the local population.

Chandigarh, May 23- In a significant announcement aimed at easing travel concerns of students appearing for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini has announced free travel in Haryana Roadways buses for NEET aspirants on June 20 and 21 across the state.
*The NEET examination is scheduled to be held on June 21.*
The Chief Minister said that the state government remains committed to supporting students and ensuring they are able to appear for competitive examinations without inconvenience. He said all NEET candidates will be allowed to travel free of cost in Haryana Roadways buses upon producing their admit cards.
The initiative is intended to help students reach their examination centres smoothly and without any travel-related stress, he added.
Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said the Haryana Government had earlier extended a similar facility to candidates appearing for the Common Eligibility Test (CET), and the same support is now being provided to NEET aspirants as well.
The Chief Minister also wished students success in the examination and urged them to appear with confidence and dedication. He expressed hope that the young aspirants would achieve success and build a bright future for themselves.
