Chandigarh, May 29, 2026:The Chandigarh Administration has issued an addendum to the proposed amendments in the Chandigarh Master Plan (CMP)-2031 concerning the fragmentation of industrial plots in Industrial Area Phase-I and Phase-II Chandigarh as part of the ongoing deregulation exercise aimed at promoting optimum utilization of industrial land.

The addendum, approved by the Hon’ble Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, is to be read in continuation of the proposed amendments already notified on May 22, 2026. It is aimed at facilitating optimum utilization of larger industrial plots in Industrial Area Phase-I and Phase-II Chandigarh.

Under De-regulation-II, it has been proposed to permit fragmentation of larger industrial plots into smaller plots in Industrial Area Phase-I and Phase-II, Chandigarh, subject to approval of revised planning and zoning and compliance with other conditions prescribed under the applicable policy. The policy governing such fragmentation shall be notified separately by the Chandigarh Administration.

Accordingly, in Chapter-16 of CMP-2031 relating to Development Control and Regulations for Industrial Areas, the existing provision stating that fragmentation is not allowed is proposed to be replaced with a provision specifying that fragmentation norms shall be governed as per the applicable policy of the Chandigarh Administration, subject to approval of revised planning and zoning and fulfillment of other prescribed conditions.
