CENSUS 2027: CHANDIGARH ACHIEVES 100% COMPLETION OF HOUSE LISTING OPERATIONS

Chandigarh, 29 May 2026-The Directorate of Census Operations, Chandigarh, is pleased to announce the successful completion of House Listing Block (HLB) operations under Census 2027 in the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

As per the latest progress report dated 29 May 2026, all 2,054 House Listing Blocks (HLBs) have been completed, achieving 100% coverage across all ten Census Charges of UT Chandigarh.

This significant milestone has been accomplished through the dedicated efforts of Enumerators, Supervisors, Charge Officers, and other Census functionaries, who worked tirelessly to ensure the timely completion of House Listing operations. Continuous monitoring and effective field-level coordination played a vital role in achieving this target.

Speaking on the achievement, Dr. Navjot Khosa, IAS, Director of Census Operations, Chandigarh, and Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav, Principal Census Officer, Chandigarh, appreciated the commitment and hard work of all officers and field staff involved in the exercise. They also acknowledged the wholehearted cooperation extended by the residents of Chandigarh, which significantly contributed to the successful completion of this important national exercise.

The Directorate of Census Operations, Chandigarh, is now fully prepared for the next phase of Census 2027, i.e., Population Enumeration, scheduled to commence on February 2027. All necessary preparatory activities are being undertaken to ensure its smooth and successful implementation.

The Census Department expresses its sincere gratitude to all stakeholders and citizens for their support and participation. The Department remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of data quality, operational excellence, and public service in the forthcoming phases of Census 2026

Chandigarh, May 29, 2026:All ration card holders are informed that special camps are being organised from 01.06.2026 at the Community Centres of Maloya, Manimajra (Adjacent to RIMT School), Khajeri, Mauli Jagran (Vikas Nagar), Sector 25, Burail (Bhopal Stadium Ramleela Ground), Sector 55, Khuda Alisher, Sector 37 and Sector 42.

Beneficiaries who have already submitted their details for receiving ration subsidy on their mobile phones but have not yet downloaded the mobile application are requested to visit these camps with their Aadhaar Card and Aadhaar-linked mobile phone to complete the process.

Beneficiaries who have not yet submitted their details are also requested to visit the camps and provide the required information.

Ration card holders belonging to demolished colonies/slum settlements, such as Janta Colony (Sector 25), Sanjay Colony (Industrial Area, Phase-I), Colony No. 4, etc., may also visit the camp nearest to their present place of residence and submit the required details for registration.

All ration card holders are informed that submission of the required details and downloading of the mobile application are mandatory for receiving subsidy money. Beneficiaries who do not complete this process may stop receiving food subsidy.

Therefore, all pending beneficiaries are requested to visit the camps and complete the process at the earliest.
