➖AAP’s Punjab Government-Sponsored Protests Are Nothing But Political Drama: Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon

Chandigarh, September 1:Punjab BJP State President Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon today condemned the Aam Aadmi Party’s protests at various places across Punjab, calling them a Punjab Government-sponsored political stunt aimed at misleading the people.

Sardar Dhillon said AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann, have no moral right to lecture the BJP on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots without first answering the victims’ families. “AAP’s tears are crocodile tears. Before pointing fingers at the BJP, they must look into the mirror,” he said.

Dhillon reminded AAP that 84 riot accused got punishments only during Prime Minister tenure of Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji and Narendra Modi ji.

He reminded AAP of its 2017 manifesto, which promised 1984 victim families ₹5 lakh, affordable housing and government jobs. “Years have passed. Where are these promises? Not a single rupee was given to these families,” he said.

He questioned AAP’s claim of sympathy, pointing out that when members of the Sikh riot victims’ welfare organisation sought to meet Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, they were allegedly met with police lathis instead of compassion.

In contrast, Sardar Dhillon said the Narendra Modi government transferred ₹5 lakh each to 3,328 victim families. BJP governments have also acted on employment: 121 victim families in Haryana were promised government jobs, while Delhi’s BJP government has issued appointment letters to beneficiaries.

He said the BJP reopened more than 300 closed 1984 riot cases through an SIT, while Delhi’s BJP government introduced a Compassionate Employment Policy in November 2025, allowing eligible families to pass employment benefits to the next generation with age and educational relaxations.

“We give jobs; AAP gives lathis. We deliver justice; AAP delivers political drama. Punjab wants justice and dignity, not placards and stunts.”

Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon concluded by saying that the AAP government has failed on every front. It is staging this drama in an attempt to regain its lost political ground. The BJP organisation is getting stronger, and the next government is going to be formed by the Bharatiya Janata Party. The people of Punjab, however, are ready to vote the Aam Aadmi Party out of power.
