CHANDIGARH, 27.09.26-The Chandigarh Administration today carried out a demolition drive to remove illegal structures raised on Government land at Kacchi Colony, Ramdarbar Phase-I and Phase-II, Chandigarh, in accordance with the directions of the District Magistrate, U.T., Chandigarh.

The demolition operation commenced at 7:00 A.M. Adequate arrangements were made by the Administration to ensure the smooth, peaceful and orderly conduct of the drive. The Chandigarh Police deployed the required police force, including Lady Constables, to maintain law and order during the operation.

The Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, and Estate Office, U.T., Chandigarh, deployed enforcement staff, labour, JCB machines and other necessary machinery for the removal of the illegal structures. The concerned authorities also ensured the disconnection of electricity and water connections prior to the demolition operation.

The Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Executive Magistrates remained present at the site to oversee the operation and maintain law and order. Necessary emergency arrangements were also put in place, with fire tenders, medical teams and two ambulances deployed at the site.

Civil Defence volunteers assisted the Administration and enforcement teams throughout the operation. The entire demolition drive was also videographed for official documentation and record.

Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav IAS, District Magistrate, U.T., Chandigarh, reiterated that no encroachment on Government land would be tolerated and stated that the Administration would continue to take necessary action, as per law, against unauthorised occupation and illegal structures on Government land.
