CHANDIGARH, OCTOBER 1: The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria has greeted the people of Punjab and Chandigarh, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
In a message, the Governor said that Gandhi Jayanti is an occasion for all of us to rededicate ourselves to the values of his inspiring life - peace, equality and communal harmony. On this day, each of us must spread the idea and thought behind his philosophy of pacifism, whose goal was to solve problems of conflict and violence.
Stating that Mahatma Gandhi always tried to find peaceful means to resolve them, the Governor said that a century ago, Gandhiji inspired millions with his call of Swadeshi and Swaraj and showed the power of the path of truth and non-violence, which is even more relevant in the present turbulent times across the world when the world is facing more and more complex challenges, his life continues to serve as a lighthouse, helping us negotiate the path amid turbulent waters.
The India of his dreams is a clean and a healthy India. The initiatives taken in this regard, have been bearing fruits now. To fulfill the dream of Mahatma Gandhi of clean India, the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the Swachh Bharat Mission on 2nd October 2014. This Campaign has now become a ’Jan Andolan’ across the country.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, let us rededicate ourselves to the ideals of this great soul.
