CHANDIGARH, 17.09.24-The Equal Opportunity Cell of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, organised an expert talk on the topic ‘Social Welfare Schemes for Youth by Chandigarh Administration’. The resource person was Mr. Hitesh Chaudhary, State Coordinator, UDID, Department of Social Welfare, Chandigarh Administration. Enlightening the participants about diverse schemes available for different set of citizens residing in Chandigarh like schemes for disabled students, widows, BPL citizens, senior citizens, etc., Mr. Hitesh elaborated on the schemes for the youth in particular. He discussed the eligibility criteria and processes to be followed to avail the benefits of such schemes. Students were also explained about various vocational courses which are freely available under the program ‘Asha Kiran’. Further, Mr. Hitesh also mentioned about the financial facilities available to students in the form of loans at reduced rate of interest and allowances, etc. 67 students of various disciplines attended the session.

Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava appreciated the efforts of the Equal Opportunity Cell for organising this session and also encouraged the students to explore and get benefitted from various government schemes.
