Chandigarh, 13th Feb: The Postgraduate Department of English, GGDSD College, Chandigarh, organized an engaging talk titled “Living by the Pen: The Writer’s Way" under the PM USHA scheme. Renowned author and former State Information Commissioner of Punjab, Mr. Khushwant Singh, was the distinguished speaker for the event. The session commenced with a green welcome by Mr. Ashutosh Sharma, Dean, Arts, and Ms. Pooja Sarin, Head, PG Department of English and Dean, Cultural Activities.
Mr. Khushwant Singh shared insights into his journey—beginning as a farmer, transitioning to writing articles, biographies, and novels. He also highlighted his active role in drug abuse awareness initiatives through the People’s Walk Against Drugs. Among his many diverse publications, he is widely recognized for authoring the biographies of eminent figures like Captain Amarinder Singh and Fauja Singh. He is also the author of the novel, “Maharaja in Denims” which is being adapted into a film, wholly by AI; an innovative start-up venture by Mr Singh himself.
The talk attracted students from various departments, who engaged in a lively question-and-answer session following Mr. Singh’s address. Dr. Ajay Sharma, Principal, GGDSD College, appreciated the organizing of such intellectually stimulating interactions. Dr. Poorva Trikha, the event’s organizer, delivered the vote of thanks.
