CHANDIGARH,11th March, 2025-The 42nd Annual Athletic Meet of Post Graduate Government College, Sector 46, Chandigarh, was inaugurated with great enthusiasm and fervor today.

He unfurled the college flag and officially declared the meet open, marking the beginning of a day filled with high-energy performances and sportsmanship. The opening ceremony featured an impressive march past by the students, dressed in their neatly coordinated uniforms, showcasing discipline and synchronization. The highlight of the ceremony was the torch relay, symbolizing the spirit of sportsmanship, followed by the oath-taking ceremony, where athletes pledged to uphold the values of integrity, teamwork, and fair play.

In his address, Principal, Professor (Dr.) J.K. Sehgal said that it's a well-known fact that health, once lost, can never be regained, unlike material possessions. So, everyone should make a conscious effort to prioritize health and well-being, starting from today. He further emphasised that this is the ideal age for the students to invest their time and energy in acquiring health knowledge, fostering creativity, and developing their physical and mental well-being. “Sports instill discipline, perseverance, and team spirit, which are essential for success in life. Every student must participate in at least one sport to experience its transformative power" he added.

The sports meet saw enthusiastic participation from students across various disciplines, competing in a wide array of athletic events, including the 5000-metre races, high jump, long jump, javelin throw, discus throw, shot put, slow cycle race, and the ever-exciting Chatty race. The ground was abuzz with cheers from spectators, as students displayed their strength, endurance, and determination in each event.

Several esteemed faculty members graced the occasion, including Professor Dr. Sneh Harshinder Sharma (Vice Principal), Dr. Rajinder Kaura (Head, Department of Physical Education), Dr. Vishaw Gaurav, and Ms. Sunita. Their presence and encouragement further motivated the students to give their best in the competitions.
