Ludhiana 10 March 2025-The Directorate of Extension Education of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized a meeting of Horse Breeders of Punjab under the guidance of Dr. Jatinder Paul Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor for formation of a farmer collective to provide an impetus to horse breeding and sports in the state. Around 40 Horse breeders from all over the state joined this meeting and provided their feedback.
Dr. Gill commended the initiative and pressed on the need for collaborative efforts among breeders and scientists in this direction. He said that horse breeding is engrained in our rural culture and is a source of recreation as well income. The management of horses backed by scientific practices can improve the performance level of horses which would in turn add further value to breeding activities in Punjab. Horse breeding has the potential to boost the state economy if it is organised through a farmer collective with technical support of the university and State Animal Husbandry Department, he added.
