Chandigarh, August 12: The Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh Mr. Gulab Chand Kataria held a review meeting with senior officials of the National Highway Authority, Railway officials, Airport Authority and BSNL to review the progress report of various ongoing projects in Punjab today here at Punjab Raj Bhavan.
During the meeting, the Governor directed the officials to complete all the Central projects without any delay. He also said that if there is any problem/issue in the implementation of any project, it should be informed immediately in writing so that such issues can be resolved on a priority basis with the help of the Central and State Governments.
The Governor further said that a meeting will be held every three months to get the progress report of all the Central projects. Apart from this, he should be informed in writing about the progress of all the projects from time to time.
On this occasion, the Governor discussed the issue of heavy traffic in Chandigarh, replying to this the National Highways Authority officials said that the construction of National Highways connecting Panchkula to Shimla and Majri to Baddi will minimise this problem to a great extent.
During the meeting, the Governor said that Udaipur-Chandigarh-Jammu are very important cities for tourism, in view of this a proposal should be prepared to run Jammu-Tawi train on daily basis. He also reviewed the progress of the new Amrit stations and new railway lines.
During the meeting, the Airport Authority of India officials shared information about the proposed road directly connecting Chandigarh to Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport. They said that the construction of this road will reduce the distance from Chandigarh to the airport by 10 km.
On this occasion, BSNL officials also informed the Governor about their ongoing projects.
Others present in the meeting included Additional Chief Secretary to Governor K. Siva Prasad, DRM Railways Ambala MS Bhatia, DRM Railways Ferozepur Sanjay Sahu, CGM BSNL Punjab Ajay Kumar, Regional Officer NHAI Bipanesh Sharma and CEO CHIAL Ajay Verma besides other senior officials from NHAI, Railways, BSNL and Airport Authority of India were also present.
