Chandigarh, September 7:The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday achieved another milestone by giving 44974 government jobs in merely 30 months of its tenure thereby enlightening the lives of the youth.

Addressing the gathering during a function to hand over 293 appointment letters in various departments to the youth, the Chief Minister described it as a historical juncture that will transform the destiny of youth. He said that this venue has witnessed a number of such events in which youth have got jobs in various government departments. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this reflects the commitment of the state government to ensure the well being of youth and opening new avenues of employment for them.

The Chief Minister said that the state government fills all the posts as soon as they are vacant in the department. He said that a foolproof mechanism has been adopted for the entire recruitment process due to which not even a single appointment out of these more than 44,000 have been challenged so far in any court. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is a proud moment for the government of Punjab that these youth have been given government jobs completely on the basis of merit.

The Chief Minister said that it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction for him that all the youth have been selected for these posts purely on the basis of their eligibility and intelligence. He said that this is not a first function as the state government has handed over job letters to youth in the state as already several such functions had taken place. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government is making strenuous efforts for restoring the pristine glory of Punjab by making youth a partner in this noble cause.

The Chief Minister said that due to concerted efforts of the Punjab government reverse migration has started in the state. He said that instead of going abroad in search of green pastures, the youth of the state are now working hard here to get the jobs. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that even youth who had gone to other countries earlier are now coming back and getting jobs by working hard.

The Chief Minister said that it is heartening to see that the desired results are being produced and youth are becoming an active partner in social-economic progress of the state. He said that it is on record that educational institutions in the state are witnessing a huge surge in admissions by the youth. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that due to pro-people policies of the state government, this trend will continue in future too.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is making concerted efforts for the welfare of the youth of the state. He said that the focus of his government is to ensure that youth become job givers instead of job seekers. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this is the need of hour to carve out a progressive and prosperous Punjab by proactive involvement of the youth.

The Chief Minister said that 842 Aam Aadmi Clinics have already been established by the government which have treated more than 2 crore people and 95-percent of them are now healthy. He said that as many as 30 more such clinics are being set up with which people will get better health facilities near their homes. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that these clinics have also helped the government in preparing a database for checking the various diseases prevalent in the state and combating them effectively.

The Chief Minister said that now these youth have become integral part of the government adding that now should serve the people with missionary zeal. Bhagwant Mann hoped that the new recruits will use their pen for helping the needy and underprivileged sections of society. He said that the newly recruited youth should ensure maximum welfare of the public so that every section of society is benefited from it.

The Chief Minister said that in the last 2.5 years people have reposed faith in pro-people policies of the state government due to which tax collection has been enhanced a lot. He said that till now 18 toll plazas have been closed in the state adding that though most of them had sought extension but they have been denied it in larger public interest. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that with the closing of these toll plazas Rs 63 lakh is being saved from the pocket of the common man in Punjab daily.

The Chief Minister further said that the Punjab Government has started a mission to improve infrastructure in all Government schools. He said that the state Government is committed to make 118 Government Senior Secondary Schools as Schools of Eminence, equipped with smart classrooms, fully equipped labs and playgrounds for scientific learning. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that quality education will help in enabling the students to excel in life and compete in several national and international events.

The Chief Minister said that for the first time in the history of Punjab, Mega Parent Teachers Meeting was organized in Government schools across the state. He said that in this Mega PTM 20 lakh parents took part adding that this exercise of organising the mega PTM will immensely benefit the students. Bhagwant Singh Mann envisioned that this initiative will help the students to groom well for the coming times.

Meanwhile, the newly appointed employees profusely thanked the Chief Minister for the jobs. Shivani Sharma, an Ophthalmic Officer from Ludhiana, beamed with joy as she shared the news of her brother also securing a job on the same day. She said that that she was feeling double delighted as it is a moment of immense pride for my entire family. Shivani emphasized that their selection was purely based on merit, making their achievement even more sweet.

Gurdeep Kaur, an MLT-2 from Kharar, attended the function with her newly born baby. She thanked the Chief Minister for completing the entire recruitment process in a free and fair manner.

Gurlal Singh, a Block Extension Educator from Chabhal (Taran Taran), shared his surprise at getting the job without any recommendation. "When I received the phone call about the job, I was surprised as I never expected it," he said.

Hardeep Singh, an MLT from Sri Muktsar Sahib, extended his heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for providing jobs to the youth. He shared that he had previously considered going abroad, but the AAP government's initiatives had changed his perception. "I'm grateful for this opportunity," he said, beaming with pride.

Chandigarh, September 7:In a major breakthrough, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday gave further impetus to investment promotion by firming up investments from Nebula Group, a major company of Canada

During an interaction with President and Chairman of the group Raman Khatra, the Chief Minister said that it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that company has evinced keen interest to set up a food processing plant where by the produce of tomato, citrus fruits, juices, potato will be mobilised from the surrounding area of 10, 000 hectares thereby increasing the life span of frozen and fresh food products with the use of ozone. He said that the company will export the perishable and fresh items by increasing their shelf life with the help of ozone technology. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that tie up with Markfed and Punjab Agro will be ensured to benefit the farmers in a big way adding that the company will set up plant near Doraha which will ensure jobs to youth too.

The Chief Minister also said that the company will use it expertise to clean Budha Nalla in Ludhiana with their latest technology. He said that company will remove impurities that cause cancer on Indian native reserves and with the help of Nebula Ozonation at Nano level, the proposal is to successfully remove all cancer causing elements. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that all out efforts will be made to reduce the TDS level of water to less than 100 so that the same can be fit for drinking purpose.

On pursuance of the Chief Minister, the company also agreed to set up a plant for recycling plastic waste especially bottles to produce pellets. He said that it will go a long way in solving the problem of plastic waste through its management thereby paving way for clean and green environment. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that state government is committed for boosting investment in the state and no stone is being left unturned for it.

Showcasing Punjab as the most preferred investment destination, the Chief Minister said that the state has an industrial friendly government with a real single window system for the well-being of investors. He said that Punjab is a land of opportunities and the leading companies from across the world are making a beeline to invest in the state adding that the Canadian company will also be immensely benefited by investing in the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Punjab has complete communal harmony, industrial peace coupled with congenial atmosphere for industrial growth, which are giving impetus to its overall development, prosperity and progress.

VB arrests three more accused in PSIEC plot allotment case

Chandigarh, September 7, 2024 -The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested Darshan Kumar, alias Darshan Garg, and Amarjit Singh, both retired Estate Officers along with Vijay Kumar Gupta, Senior Assistant, in connection with the fraudulent allotment of industrial plots of the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation Limited (PSIEC).

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the VB informed that the arrests followed the accused have surrendering in the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Mohali.

He further added that in this regard a case, had already been registered under FIR No. 04 dated March 8, 2024 under sections 420, 409, 465, 467, 468, 471, 120-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 13(1)A read with 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act at VB police station, Flying Squad-1, Punjab, at SAS Nagar.

He informed that the aforementioned officials in connivance with others had committed irregularities in the allotment of industrial plots by using bogus buyers, fake addresses, and fictitious firms. In this case further investigation was under progress, he added.

Court remands Tehsildar to one-day police custody for accepting Rs 50,000 bribe

Chandigarh, September 7, 2024 -The Gurdaspur court has remanded Lakhwinder Singh, Tehsildar of Dera Baba Nanak, and his driver to one-day police custody under the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) following their arrest on Friday for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.

According to an official spokesperson of the VB, the Tehsildar was arrested based on a complaint filed by Sukhdev Singh Sohi, a resident of Village Mansoor, Tehsil Dera Baba Nanak, district Gurdaspur, now residing in Village Ramdas, Amritsar district.

The spokesperson elaborated that Sukhdev Singh had alleged in his complaint that Ajaib Singh, a resident of Dhandowal Shahkot in Jalandhar district, had lodged a complaint against him regarding a land dispute. The matter was assigned to Tehsildar Lakhwinder Singh for verification. During the process, the Tehsildar allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 through Dilbagh Singh, Numberdar of Village Ratta, in exchange for a favorable report.

Following a preliminary inquiry, the VB laid a trap, and nabbed the said Tehsildar red-handed while accepting the bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant. The spokesperson added that after accepting the said bribe the Tehsildar had passed the bribe money to his driver, who was also arrested and charged as an accomplice in the crime. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.

Chandigarh, September 7:In a move to harness solar power for greening the agriculture sector in Punjab, the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) has invited applications for 20,000 solar pumps (Surface & Submersible) dedicated to agricultural use.

Disclosing this at a press conference in Sangrur, on Saturday, Punjab New and Renewable Energy Sources Minister Mr. Aman Arora said that farmers interested in installing solar pumps can now apply online at www.pmkusum.peda.gov.in from September 9th to September 30th, 2024. Farmers have the option to apply for solar pumps with capacities of 3, 5, 7.5, and 10 HP. A subsidy of 60% for General category farmers and 80% for Scheduled Caste (SC) farmers is available for the solar pump installations. Additionally, the state government has set aside 2000 solar pumps for SC farmers and 3000 for Gram Panchayats, he added.

In areas classified as dark zones (over-exploited ground-water blocks), these pumps will be allocated to farmers who already have micro (drip/sprinkler) irrigation systems installed on their bore-wells. Additionally, farmers and Panchayats utilising diesel pumps to extract water from village ponds, farm ponds, or canal water diggies are also eligible under the scheme, informed Mr. Aman Arora.

The cabinet minister categorically said that the farmers who have PSPCL electric motor connections or have installed solar pumps for irrigation in their names or in the name of their family members are not eligible to apply under this scheme. CHANDIGARH/FEROZEPUR, September 7:Amidst the ongoing drive to destroy the organised criminal networks in the state as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of the Punjab Police, in joint operation with central agencies and Maharashtra Police, have solved the sensational Ferozepur Triple Murder case with the arrest of six shooters from Aurangabad, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Saturday.

Those arrested have been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopy Baba of Chohla Sahib in Tarn Taran; Prince of village Kunde in Ferozepur; Ravinder Singh alias Ravi alias Sukhu, Sukhchain Singh, Akshay alias Bagicha and Rajbeer Singh alias Daler Singh, all residents of Basti Bagh Wali in Ferozepur. All the arrested accused have criminal history with cases pertaining to murder, attempt to murder, robbery, NDPS Act, Arms Act etc registered against them. While, accused Gurpreet Singh alias Gopy Baba has also been declared proclaimed offender in two cases.

As per the information, three persons, including a young girl, were shot dead by six assailants on two motorcycles in a broad daylight near Gurudwara in Ferozepur on Tuesday. A case FIR No. 344 dated 03.09.2024 had been registered under sections 103, 109, 351(2), 191(3), 190 and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) ans sections 25(6) and 25(7) of the Arms Act at Police Station City Ferozepur.

DGP Gaurav Yadav said that acting on human-intel inputs and connecting the dots, AGTF Punjab headed by ADGP Promod Ban, Police teams under the supervision of AIG Gurmeet Singh Chauhan and AIG Sandeep Goel launched a special operation spread over states of Punjab, UT Chandigarh, Delhi and Maharashtra, have arrested six accused persons from Hruday Samrat Balasaheb Thakre Express Highway. The operation was led by DSP Bikramjit Singh Brar and DSP Rajan Parminder Singh was supported by the QRT Aurangabad Police team.

He said that preliminary investigation has revealed all the arrested six shooters are close associates of mastermind Ashish Chopra, who is a fugitive and hiding abroad on a fake passport. The probe revealed that the incident is fallout of intergang rivalry between two groups, he added.

The DGP said that further investigations are on to establish forward and backward linkages in this case. More arrests are expected soon, he added.
