MAHENDERGARH, 01.10.24-The Department of Law at Central University of Haryana (CUH) organized an expert lecture on the newly enacted criminal laws, featuring legal expert Dr. Shobhna Jeet, Associate Professor at K.R. Mangalam University. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, CUH, appreciated the department's initiative, stressing the need for spreading legal awareness about the new laws.
The lecture focused on the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS), which replaced the Indian Penal Code, 1860. Dr. Shobhna Jeet provided in-depth insights into the significant changes and implications of the new legislation. She discussed the BNS's new offenses, punishments, and provisions. She addressed controversies surrounding Section 106(2) and its temporary suspension. The lecture emphasized the importance of legal awareness and understanding the intentions behind the BNS.
