CHANDIGARH, 13.11.24-Today, i.e. on 13th November, 2024, a Raising Day parade was held at the Parade Ground, RTC, Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria was the Chief Guest and took the Salute on this occasion. The parade contingents of Chandigarh Police headed by the Parade Commander Shri Dheeraj, DSP/Traffic Chandigarh Police, marched along with the 14platoons of parade with pipe band & brass band. The march was followed by mounts squad, dog squad, cycle Squad and fleets of vehicles i.e. Activa Scooter, Traffic & beat motorcycles, Interceptor, Ambulance van, Vajra Tear Gas, X-Ray Machine, Children Traffic Van, Bomb Detection, Kawach, Water Canon, Mobile Police Station and Mobile Forensic Van.

Sh. Rajeev Verma IAS, Advisor to the Administrator, Chandigarh, Sh. Surendra Singh Yadav, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh and officers from Chandigarh Administration & Police department, Municipal Councilors, Senior Citizens, distinguished invitees and retired police officers were present at the function.

Sh. Surendra Singh Yadav, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh delivered the welcome address to the Hon’ble guests as well as to the audience. DGP/UT in his official address said that Chandigarh Police is always looking for best ways to enhance services for citizens and to provide crime free environment to them. DGP/UT highlighted the recently introduced services by Chandigarh Police which are as under:-

QR Code Review System:- QR code review system is a pivotal step toward greater transparency and accountability in policing. This system will enhance the efficiency of Chandigarh Police towards public.

Swayam Team:- Aim of Chandigarh Police is to improve response strategies, particularly in cases involving crime against women, ensuring a safer and more supportive community for all. The Swayam team of Chandigarh Police were successfully conducted 90 awareness camps on the safety of girl/women students during this year. Total 23000 girls/women had participated and trained in these programs. The programs aimed to educate & empower individuals on crucial safety measures as well as community engagement.

Recruitments: - Chandigarh Police has recently completed the training of 44 ASI’s, the training of 700 Constable & 45 constable (sports quota) will be completed this month. Chandigarh Police will also give appointment letter to constables in IT field soon.

During this occasion, Hon’ble Chief Guest awarded the three Police Stations with the top 3 positions for ‘DGP Running Trophy for best Police Stations i.e. 1ST prize PS-26 with cash award 25000/-, 2nd PS-11 with cash award 15,000/- and 3rd PS-Mauli Jagran with cash award 10,000/-.

Three Police Officials have also been awarded with the top 3 positions for ‘DGP Running Trophy for best investigating Officer’ i.e. 1st prize of Insp. Shiv Charan No. 1112/CHG with cash award 25,000/-, 2nd SI Naveen Kumar No. 1070/CHG cash award 15,000/-, ASI Kuldeep Singh No. 1792/CHG cash award Rs.10,000/-.

Two Police Officials have also been awarded with the ‘DGP Running Trophy for best Beat Officer’ i.e. 1st Const. Sanjay No. 4802/CP with cash award 15,000/- and 2nd L/Const. Kamaljeet Kaur No. 6093/CP with cash award 15,000/-

On this Occasion, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria appreciated the Chandigarh Police and wished all the members of Chandigarh Police force on the occasion of their 58th Raising Day. Hon’ble Chief Guest said that proud moment for us, as Chandigarh has become the first city in the country to take steps toward implementing the three new criminal laws. The implementation of these laws, introduced by Home Minister Amit Shah, marks an important milestone in strengthening our criminal justice system. Especially commend the Chandigarh Police's cooperative program, offering 14 essential services to residents at their doorstep.

To prioritize citizen feedback, the police have initiated a QR code system that allows individuals to provide their opinions on police conduct and services. This initiative helps the police evaluate their work based on public feedback and continuously improve. The Chandigarh Police also recognizes the rising challenges of cybercrime. Through their Cyber Cleanliness Mission, they have collaborated with city institutions and trained 1,500 cyber volunteers. These volunteers, in turn, have helped guide over 200,000 citizens on cyber safety practices, thus significantly strengthening our cyber resilience. Hon’ble Chief guest also praised that Chandigarh police typically reach the scene within three minutes, a remarkable achievement nationwide. The force has also demonstrated its efficiency in handling cases under the NDPS Act, boasting an 85% conviction rate – a substantial accomplishment.

At last, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator, Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria praised and gave compliments to all officers of Chandigarh Police for their best parade.
