ENVISIONS 30 FEET HIGH STATUE OF SHAHEED BHAGAT SINGH WILL INSPIRE YOUTH TO SERVE THE COUNTRY

REITERATES COMMITMENT TO REALISE DREAM OF SHAHEED BHAGAT SINGH

SAS Nagar (Mohali), December 4:Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday envisioned that the state of the art ‘Nishaan-e-Inquilaab’ plaza will ever inspire the youngsters for selfless service to the nation by perpetuating the life and philosophy of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh.

Addressing the gathering after dedicating the plaza to people which houses 30 feet high bronze statue of iconic martyr on Airport road, the Chief Minister said that this legendary martyr should not only be remembered only on his martyrdom day (March 23) or birthday (September 28) but he said that the iconic martyr should be remembered every moment. He said that this plaza, constructed at a cost of Rs 5 crore, will ever inspire our younger generations to follow the footsteps of the great martyr and serve the country zealously. Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed hope that this plaza will act as a lighthouse for the visitors coming from within the country and abroad by apprising them about the role of this legendary martyr.

The Chief Minister said that due to strenuous efforts of the state government, the Mohali airport has been named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh. He said that none of the previous government had bothered about naming this airport after a great martyr but after assuming the charge of office his government accorded top priority to it. Bhagwant Singh Mann further said that naming the airports, universities and other institutions in the name of these iconic martyrs is important to perpetuate their glorious legacy.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is leaving no stone unturned for cherishing the aspirations of the great martyrs. He said that as per the aspirations of great nationalists, the state government is duty bound to ensure the progress of the state and prosperity of its people. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the day is not far away when due to concerted efforts of the state government, Punjab will soon emerge as a front runner state across the country.

The Chief Minister said the state government is committed to fulfill every dream of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and carve out a harmonious and egalitarian society. He said that the young hero of the freedom struggle had sacrificed his life at a young age for emancipating the country from clutches of foreign imperialism. Bhagwant Singh Mann bemoaned that the previous governments during the past 70 years blatantly ignored the vision and dreams of our great martyrs like Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is ensuring that no one from the state migrates abroad so that dreams of Shaheed Bhagat Singh are fulfilled. He said that the state government has already given around 50,000 jobs to youth in a transparent manner and no stone will be further left unturned for it. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government has already put the wheels of state government in motion to start reverse migration in the state.

The Chief Minister said that at the age when youth demands gifts from their parents, Shaheed Bhagat Singh ji sought freedom for his motherland from the Britishers. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Shaheed Bhagat Singh was a well read leader who was always worried about the welfare of people. He said that the iconic martyr had played a great role in emancipating the country from clutches of British imperialism.

The Chief Minister said that the dreams of Shaheed-e-Azam still remain unfulfilled as corruption, nepotism and poverty still rule the roost. He also called upon people to rise above the parochial consideration of caste, communalism and creed to make India number one. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it will be a real tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Singh and other freedom fighters who had laid their lives at the altar of the motherland.

The Chief Minister also called upon youth to come forward and carve out a country of Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s dream adding that all of us have to make strenuous efforts to realize the dreams of martyrs. He said that it is the need of hour to restore the pristine glory of the state adding that the legendary martyr was not only an individual but an institution adding that we must follow his footsteps for the progress of the country.

The Chief Minister said that the supreme sacrifice of Shaheed Bhagat Singh will inspire youth to serve the country. He said that apart from emancipating the country from foreign clutches Shaheed Bhagat Singh had also envisioned a corruption and poverty free India. Bhagwant Singh Mann exhorted the youth to take pledge that they will follow the footsteps of Shaheed Bhagat Singh to serve the state.

Chandigarh, December 4:Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan has praised the Punjab Police for its prompt action to foiled the attack on Senior SAD leader and Ex- Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal, who was penance at the entrance of the Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar.

In a press statement issued here today, S. Sandhwan, while terming the incident very unfortunate, said that every person feels safe in the Guru Ghar and respect for the Guru Ghar is utmost. He condemned the incident calling it highly condemnable.

S. Sandhwan said that the Punjab Police deserve accolade for the vigilant action to avert the attack at the most sacred place.

GIVES IN PRINCIPLE APPROVAL FOR THE DESIGN OF WAR MEMORIALS TO COME UP IN ALL THE DISTRICTS ACROSS PUNJAB

Chandigarh, December 4:As a mark of respect towards the valiant soldiers serving the Armed forces in state, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday cleared ex-gratia worth Rs 21.50 crore (Rs 25 lakh each) for 86 Armed forces personnel who have suffered physical casualties while serving the country.

Chairing a meeting today here at his official residence, the Chief Minister asked the officers to immediately release this ex-gratia amount started by his government for the first time in recognition of the enormous contribution of these brave hearts. He said that earlier, there was no such provision but his government has taken this initiative as these brave warriors suffer casualties during call of duty. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Punjab is the only state in the country to give Rs 25 lakh as ex-gratia to families of such soldiers adding that this was even much more than what 70% of the other states were giving to the families of soldiers in case of their death.

The Chief Minister said that after assuming the charge of office his government has decided to give Rs 1 crore to the distressed families as a mark of respect for the supreme sacrifice made by these heroes for the country. He said that this humble initiative of the state government is in recognition of the immense contribution of these sons of soil towards preserving the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that financial assistance to these families of martyrs is in consonance with the commitment of the state government to ensure the well being of the soldiers and their families.

Dwelling on another issue, the Chief Minister reiterated the firm commitment of the state government to rejuvenate and ensure proper upkeep of the Sainik School Kapurthala. He said that spread over 190 acres of land this school is built in an aesthetically designed heritage building and the state government is committed to its proper maintenance and upkeep. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he has already flagged the issue with the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, which is managing the affairs of the school.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also gave nod for construction of War Memorial in every district of the state as a mark of respect towards the war heroes of the state. He said that these state of the art memorials will be constructed over an area of 1-1.5 acres and will be a befitting tribute to the war heroes. Bhagwant Singh Mann also gave in principle approval for the design of these war memorials to come up in all the districts across Punjab.
