CHANDIGARH,12.09.24-The NCRB 2022 suicide statistics show that the number of suicides by men each year is 1,22,724 vs. women 48,172. Married men 83713 vs. married women 30771. What is even more worrying is that the number of male suicides is increasing rapidly year after year. The biggest reason for these suicides is family issues and domestic problems. SIF runs the largest and only “All India Helpline for Men in Distress” (SIF One) 08882 498 498 which receives 5000-6000 calls every month. Rohit Dogra said that with the help of this helpline we have been able to save lakhs of men and their families.
Many laws in India are being misused against men, innocent men are committing suicide due to harassment.
Rohit Dogra said that in India there is no institution like National Men's Commission to hear the issues related to men, there is no government men's helpline etc. What is even more shocking is that even in the 21st century there are no government statistics on the increasing atrocities on men.
Is this in accordance with the equality provided under Articles 14, 15 and 21 of the Constitution of India?
Rohit Dogra said that being the majority contributor of revenue, is it right for the government to give zero thought to men's health and not allocate budget?
Suicide Prevention Day SIF-Chandigarh activists organized a peaceful awareness campaign in Sector 17, which will be run in different places of Chandigarh this month! The volunteer who participated in it Mahesh Kumar, Rajat Ahuja, Ankur Sharma, Somendu Mukherjee, Sandeep Kumar, Amandeep Singh, Ravinder Singh, Anand Kumar, Dinesh Bansal, Hardeep Kumar etc.
