CHANDIGARH, 18.09.24-The Department of Botany and Add on Course in Floriculture and Landscaping at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, organised a plantation drive at village Buterla, Chandigarh, under the aegis of ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’- a flagship program of the Government of India. The outreach activity was conducted in collaboration with Jai Madhusudan Jai Shrikrishna Foundation. A total of 100 plants of medicinal and ornamental value were planted by the faculty and students of the college along with the area councillor S. Hardeep Singh Buterla, the locals and the members of the Foundation. Speaking on the importance of plants, S. Hardeep Singh applauded the efforts and laid stress on conducting such activities at regular intervals to save our environment. Mr. Prabhunath Sahi, Founder Director of the Foundation also lauded the efforts made by the institution in spreading the message of a clean and green environment.

Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava highlighted the significance of planting more and more trees for a sustainable future. She added that cognizant of it’s responsibility towards the environment and the planet, the college organises plantation drives within the campus as well as outside the campus on a regular basis.
