MAHENDERGARH, 17.10.24-Department of Nutrition Biology, Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh organized a One-day National Seminar on “Nutritional genomics, therapeutics, entrepreneurship, and quality assurance for food and nutrition security” to celebrate World Food Day. It is an international day celebrated every year worldwide on October 16 to commemorate the founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in 1945. Prof. (Dr.) Subhra Chakraborty, Former Director, National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi acted as a chief-guest and Dr. Jitendra Kumar, Managing Director was Guest of Honour for the day. The event was started with the blessings of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar wherein the light was shed on the importance of food in terms of affordability, accessibility, and safe food to all.

Dr. Anita Kumari, Programme Convenor formally welcomes all the dignitaries and provides insights related to the seminar's theme. Prof. Suneel Kumar, Registrar; Prof. Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Programme chairperson cum Dean, SIAS; Prof. Neelam Sangwan, Former, Dean SIAS and Dean Research and Prof. Kanti Prakash, Co-chairperson cum Head of the Department welcomed the chief-guest and other dignitaries by presenting bouquet, memento, and a pot. Later, Dr. Subhra Chakraborty delivered a talk on “Harnessing natural variation through pan genome and pan proteome unravel the mysteries of seed quality traits in rice”. A series of other lectures were delivered related to the theme of the seminar from eminent scientists such as Prof. Sirimavo Nair (MS University of Baroda), Dr. Kiran Kanthi Kondepudi (Scientist -E, NABI, Mohali), Dr. Tapas Chakma (Scientist-G, ICMR- NIRTH, Jabalpur) & Prof. Rajni Chopra (NIFTEM-K). Deans of various schools and Heads of the various departments of SIAS also attended the event. Faculty members; Dr. Umesh Kumar, Dr. Vidyullatha Peddireddy, and Dr. Savita Budhwar were also present during the event. The event was conducted for the M.Sc. students and Ph.D. scholars. The coordinator of the programme Dr. Ashwani Kumar proposed a formal vote of thanks mentioning the efforts of everyone for their active participation and contribution to make the event happen.
