CHANDIGARH, 28.01.25-Motivated by Prime Minister’s initiatives on Indian Knowledge System, Dr Sapna Nanda of Govt College of Education, Chandigarh and Dr Bharti Goel, Research Scholar in Home Science (Foods & Nutrition) worked on Diabetic Management using a new oral synergistic formulation of natural traditional herbs with fewer side effects as compared to synthetic medicines. Patent has been awarded in a record time of two years. This is one of the rare innovation achieved by faculty of the Deptt of Higher Education, Chandigarh

This innovative patent (Patent No. 558840) with recognition from the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) is cataloged under N8A3202406658 for 20 years from 30th December, 2022 in accordance with the provisions of the Patents Act,1970.

The successful patent grant reflects the originality and potential of this formulation, which not only contributes to the global fight against diabetes but also celebrates the power of traditional herbal medicine in modern scientific research.

The formulation is also seen as a promising alternative to synthetic diabetic medications, which can have side effects over time. By harnessing the power of these naturally occurring plants, the new formulation presents a safe, effective, and sustainable option for managing diabetes.

This women duo teamed with Prof. Anil Kumar, Inventor, a distinguished professor cum Chairperson, University of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University with extensive experience in biomedical research.
