He hailed NIT Kurukshetra as an institution with a rich legacy, a vibrant present, and a future that continues to shape the standards of technical education in the country.
He said that Kurukshetra is a holy land that reminds us that dharma will always triumph over adharma, however powerful the latter may seem.
The Vice-President noted that a convocation is not merely a ceremony but a moment when years of dedication transform into a new beginning filled with pride, hope, and opportunity.
Highlighting the pace of global transformation, he spoke about developments in artificial intelligence, renewable energy systems, space technology, biotechnology, cybersecurity, and semiconductors.
He stressed that technology has become a powerful enabler reshaping industries and redefining the way society functions. He urged students to innovate responsibly, stating that “the true purpose of technology is not progress alone, but progress with purpose.”
Encouraging students to delve deeper into research, innovation, and India-specific problem-solving, he said that these are the twin engines that will drive India’s technological leadership. He emphasized the need for young innovators to explore emerging areas of national importance such as sustainable manufacturing, smart mobility, quantum technologies, healthcare technologies, agricultural innovation, and green infrastructure.
The Vice-President observed that India is transitioning from being a consumer of technology to becoming a global creator of advanced solutions. He credited initiatives like Digital India, Startup India, and Make in India for nurturing a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem and urged graduates to convert their ideas into enterprises that create jobs and contribute to national growth.
Acknowledging contemporary global challenges — climate change, cybersecurity threats, equitable access to technology, and the ethical use of AI — he said that these also offer immense opportunities for innovation and leadership. He praised the foresight of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP)–2020, which provides avenues for multidisciplinary learning and is deeply rooted in India’s culture, heritage, and ethos. The Vice-President noted that NEP 2020 has placed India on a transformative path by breaking away from the colonial imprint of the Macaulay education system, which, he said, was introduced to rule India and produced only clerks.
Appreciating the Institute’s focus on holistic learning, he lauded the establishment of the Centre for Holistic Personality Development (CHPD), which promotes intellectual, emotional, and ethical growth through courses on the Bhagavad Gita, Universal Human Values, cognitive science, and mental health.
Describing the national vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047, the Vice-President expressed confidence that graduates of NIT Kurukshetra will play a key role in realizing this goal. He noted with appreciation that the Institute has been awarded 64 patents so far, reflecting its strong culture of research, innovation, and intellectual property creation.
He commended the Institute’s significant contributions to advanced technologies in AI-based warfare, defence research, and space missions such as Chandrayaan and the Mars Orbiter Mission through collaborations with DRDO and ISRO. He also appreciated the Institute’s efforts toward Atma Nirbhar Bharat through research on low-cost, indigenous technologies aimed at improving lives in villages and slums.
Urging students to stay connected to India’s development journey, he said that research should help bridge the urban–rural divide, empower MSMEs, modernize agriculture, and support rural economies so that technology reaches the last person. “We must move from brain drain to brain gain,” he said, encouraging graduates to carry India in their hearts wherever they go.
Expressing his aspirations for India’s youth, he stated, “I believe that the next Google, the next Tesla, the next SpaceX must emerge from India — from institutions like NIT Kurukshetra.”
The Vice-President also appealed to students to lead a disciplined life by saying “No to Drugs”.
Concluding his address, he reminded the graduates that their degree is not an endpoint but the beginning of a new responsibility. He urged them to serve society with creativity, humility, and compassion.

*Preserving Cultural Heritage Is Our Resolve - CM Nayab Singh Saini*
*Haryana Government Strives to Establish Kurukshetra, Birthplace of the Gita, as a Global Spiritual and Cultural Center - CM*
Chandigarh, Nov 30 – As part of the 10th International Gita Mahotsav, a two-day All India Devasthanam Conference was organized in Kurukshetra on Sunday, with Vice President Sh C.P. Radhakrishnan gracing the event as the chief guest. On this occasion, Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini welcomed and congratulated the Vice President on his first visit to the sacred land of Dharmakshetra-Kurukshetra.
In his address, Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini said that only a society that preserves its cultural heritage can impart strong moral values to its youth. In this spirit, the state government is deeply committed to safeguarding and passing on Haryana’s rich cultural legacy, the birthplace of the Vedas, Puranas and the Gita to the younger generation.
The Chief Minister stated that just as the Vice President serves as the guardian of constitutional traditions, saints and mahatmas serve as the custodians of India’s eternal traditions and spiritual heritage. Today, the sacred land of Kurukshetra is imbued with the energies of spirituality, knowledge and culture. During this period, the entire state of Haryana is illuminated with the vibrant spirit of the Gita, bringing together the spiritual power of pilgrimage sites from across the country.
He further said that this Devasthanam Conference holds special significance, as the dialogue on religion and spirituality taking place in the holy land of Kurukshetra provides new direction to India’s spiritual journey. Held in conjunction with the Gita Mahotsav, the conference’s impact and energy is amplified manifold.
Referring to the significance of Kurukshetra, the Chief Minister said that this sacred land is where Lord Krishna, through Arjuna, imparted the divine message of the Gita to humanity—a message that continues to guide the world along the eternal path of life. Holding the All India Devasthanam Conference here, therefore, carries special significance.
He emphasized that the primary objective of the conference is to promote dialogue among representatives of India’s sacred pilgrimage sites and shrines, facilitate cultural exchange, and share best practices in management. During the conference, saints shared their experiences and suggestions, reinforcing efforts to preserve India’s rich religious heritage for future generations.
*Indian culture evolves with time but remains rooted in tradition*
The Chief Minister said that the greatest strength of Indian culture lies in its ability to evolve with time while staying firmly rooted in its traditions. For centuries, pilgrimage sites have infused this culture with vitality. These sites serve as centers of devotion, knowledge, and life’s enduring values, guiding people toward a righteous path. Millions visit these sacred places to connect with their inner strength, and this conference represents a meaningful step in furthering this cultural journey.
*The Saint-Mahapurush Samman and Vichar Prasar Yojana Spreads Spiritual Messages to the Youth*
Sh Nayab Singh Saini emphasized the profound connection between religious places and society. He said that where there are religious sites, there are saints and where there are saints, religious places are established. Saints have always been revered in Indian tradition. They sowed the seeds of culture, passed on values and principles from generation to generation, and helped build the great cultural nation of India. They spread the message of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’—the world is one family—across the globe for the welfare of humanity. This is why India is recognized as the ‘World Guru’ in spirituality. Even today, the world looks to India for guidance in establishing mental peace and social values. He added that, in this spirit, the Haryana government is working to spread the teachings of saints and great personalities across the state through the “Saint-Mahapurush Samman and Vichar Prasar Yojana”, aiming to inspire and guide the younger generation through their lives and contributions.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-President said he was deeply honoured to stand on the pious soil of Kurukshetra, a land celebrated as the “Land of the Vedas.” He observed that this sacred place has been revered for thousands of years as the site where the divine wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita was imparted by Lord Shri Krishna to Arjuna. He stated that Kurukshetra is a timeless reminder that dharma ultimately triumphs over adharma, however powerful the latter may appear.
The Vice-President described the Bhagavad Gita as more than a religious scripture — “a universal manual for righteous living, courageous action, and enlightened consciousness.” He emphasised that Lord Krishna’s call to focus on one’s karma, guided by dharma, remains the key to living a meaningful and purposeful life.
Reflecting on the importance of building strong character, he said character is far more important than wealth or other worldly achievements. He hailed the Mahotsav as a platform that reinforces the values that have sustained Bharat for centuries — dharma, duty, self-discipline, and the pursuit of excellence. These values, he said, form the foundation of the national vision of an Aatma Nirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat @ 2047, articulated by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi.
The Vice-President also appreciated the conclave organized by the Kurukshetra Development Board and the Gita Knowledge Institute, bringing together saints, scholars, technology experts, artists, and cultural leaders from across India. Such gatherings, he said, deepen dialogue, strengthen cultural exchange, and inspire young minds to see the Bhagavad Gita not as a distant scripture but as a living guide of courage, humility, and wisdom.
Concluding his address, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan urged all present to internalize the eternal teachings of the Bhagavad Gita — to act with righteousness, seek knowledge, embrace peace, and contribute to the welfare of humanity.
