Chandigarh, 02.01.2026:Today, Sh. H. Rajesh Prasad, Chief Secretary, U.T. Chandigarh, visited the Model and Saksham Anganwadi-cum-Crèche Centres at Sector-41 and Badheri to review the implementation of Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0. He interacted with children, reviewed the Supplementary Nutrition Programme, and inspected indoor and outdoor facilities, including the use of indigenous toys for pre-school education. The Secretary and Director, Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, were also present.

During the visit, the Chief Secretary was informed about the nutrition services under the Anganwadi Services Scheme, including monthly Take Home Ration, daily Hot Cooked Meals, and additional diets such as Poshak Ragi Barfi, eggs, and bananas. He was also apprised that 210 crèches are functioning alongside 450 Anganwadi Centres, providing safe childcare facilities for working mothers from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

Chief Secretary also visited Observation cum Special Home, Sector 25, wherein he interacted with all the children and appreciated the art work done by the children on the walls. He also inspected the kitchen and ongoing training/educational programmes being run for the children.

The visit reaffirmed the Administration’s commitment towards strengthening Anganwadi Services and achieving the objectives of Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 initiatives for the holistic development of children and women.
