CHANDIGARH, 10.03.26-The Central Placement Cell organised its annual “Industry Academia Meet” on 10th March 2026, in Law Auditorium, Panjab University, Chandigarh. More than 500 students across 32 departments attended the event. The dignitaries included Mr. Rakesh Sandhu (HCS, OSD to CM, Government of Haryana), Mr. Dinesh Duggal (Head – F&A, India & Singapore, Alpha Net, USA), Mr. Pawan Choudhary (Advisor Foreign Cooperation, CMO Haryana), Mr. Shikhir Gupta (CEO & Co-Founder, Austere Ltd.), and Mr. Vikram Dhingra (Director Actuarial, Marsh Consulting Pvt. Ltd.) as key speakers.
Prof. Yajvender Pal Verma (Registrar, Panjab University) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Dignitaries released the poster for “AVSAR”, the placement drive of Panjab University to be held on 6th, 7th and 8th April 2026.
Prof. Meena Sharma (Honorary Director - CPC) formally welcomed the dignitaries and emphasised the relevance of such events in the modern world to connect students with industry experts so that they can upskill and reskill themselves for the ever-changing industry. Prof. Yajvendra Pal Verma highlighted the key qualities the industry looks for in young professionals, including competence, adaptability, and the right attitude. He encouraged students to continuously learn, unlearn, and relearn to stay competitive. He also emphasized the importance of self-upgradation and having a strong drive to achieve success. Mr. Rakesh Sandhu motivated students to take charge of their own journeys, stating that every individual has the power to write their own story. He advised students to stay positive and remain dedicated toward their goals. He also spoke about the growing opportunities in government services for aspiring students. Mr. Dinesh Duggal encouraged students to be sincere and committed in their efforts, giving their hundred percent in whatever they pursue. He stressed the importance of implementing what one learns in academics into real life. He also urged students to have faith in themselves and work hard to achieve their ambitions. Mr. Shikhir Gupta highlighted the importance of developing the right skills and maintaining a strong attitude toward continuous learning. He emphasized strengthening fundamental concepts and gaining practical knowledge alongside theoretical understanding. He also advised students to be versatile, keep a Plan B ready, and focus on consistent practice for professional growth. Mr. Pawan Chaudhary spoke about the vast global opportunities available to students and stressed the importance of defining personal goals and role models. He encouraged students to develop a strong learning attitude and entrepreneurial mindset. He also motivated students to work on startup ideas that can create meaningful social impact and contribute to the Indian economy. Mr. Vikram Dhingra emphasized the importance of clarity of goals and being aware of what one truly wants to pursue in their career. He highlighted the role of integrity, continuous learning, and networking in building professional success.
Students were also briefed about the placement process to be followed in AVSAR, the placement drive.
Prof. Sarbjeet Singh delivered the formal vote of thanks, concluding the event by wishing students success in their future endeavours. He also emphasized the role played by Associate Directors, Cental Placement CellDr. Ravneet Kaur and Dr. Rohini Sharma in making the event as huge success.
