Chandigarh, March 18:-The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh carried out a comprehensive enforcement and anti-encroachment drive across key city locations today, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining civic discipline and ensuring obstruction-free public spaces.
The morning drive in Sector 17 near Bank Square resulted in the issuance of 25 challans, with enforcement teams removing illegal vendors occupying public areas and hindering pedestrian movement. In the afternoon, action was taken in the Motor Market of Sector 28, where 16 vehicles were impounded for carrying out repair works on road berms, leading to encroachment and inconvenience to commuters.
The evening drive in Timber Market, Sector 26 targeted unauthorized roadside activities, particularly vehicle painting and repair work being conducted on public land. During the operation, 7 vehicles were impounded. Additionally, 3 trucks loaded with coconuts were seized for illegal vending.
Enforcement teams also confiscated equipment such as jacks, rubbing machines, and seat cover materials being used for unauthorized operations.
Overall, a total of 71 challans were issued during the day-long drive.
