Chandigarh, April 4:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today carried out an intensive enforcement drive across various parts of the city to curb encroachments and ensure smooth public movement. The drive was conducted in a planned and coordinated manner by the enforcement teams.
During the operation in Manimajra Motor Market near the Masjid and Post Office, a total of 10 vehicles, including 4 trucks, 4 travel tempos, and 1 mini school bus, were seized for violations.
Subsequently, enforcement teams conducted drives in Naya Gaon barrier and Sector 26 Outer Mandi, where 32 illegal vendors were removed for encroaching upon road berms and public spaces. The areas were cleared to restore pedestrian and vehicular movement.
Further action was taken in Manimajra, where additional vehicles were impounded for unauthorized parking and obstruction, contributing to the overall enforcement action. A total of 42 challans were issued during these combined operations.
In the evening, a special drive was conducted at the vendor site in Sector 32. Illegal vendors who had occupied more space than permitted under the rules were removed, and 15 challans were issued for violations.
Overall, a total of 57 challans were issued during the day-long drive.
