Chandigarh, April 7:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today carried out an intensive enforcement drive across multiple areas of the city to curb encroachments and ensure smooth public movement.
In the morning session, enforcement teams conducted a drive in Sector 41 and Ram Darbar Phase-II, where illegal vendors occupying road sides were removed. A total of 27 rehri (handcarts) were impounded during the drive.
Subsequently, a drive was undertaken in Sector 17, particularly in the Bank Square area, where 15 illegal vendors were cleared from the site to restore pedestrian space and maintain order in the commercial hub.
During the evening, the enforcement team carried out strict action in Motor Market, Sector 13 Manimajra. 14 vehicles involved in unauthorized repair activities on road berms and Municipal Corporation land were impounded, and related equipment causing obstruction was removed.
Overall, the day-long drive resulted in the issuance of 55 challans for various violations.
The Municipal Corporation reiterated its commitment to keeping city roads, markets, and public spaces free from encroachments and appealed to vendors and vehicle owners to adhere to the rules and regulations. Strict action will continue against violators to ensure a clean, safe, and obstruction-free environment for citizens.
