Chandigarh, 06.05.26-: In alignment with the Government of India’s vision of a TB-Free India and under the ambit of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan – 100 Days Campaign ....Gaon Gaon, Shehar Shehar.”, a series of Ayushman Arogya Shivirs were meticulously organized across multiple congregate settings in Chandigarh, reinforcing the campaign’s outreach theme, “YES! We Can End TB. LED by Bharat. Powered by Janbhagidari.”

The initiative focused on covering vulnerable and high-risk populations residing in congregate settings such as old age homes, Nari Niketans, Snehalayas, and GRIID facilities from10/04/2026 to 04/05/2026. The camps aimed to enhance awareness and facilitate early detection of tuberculosis (TB).

During the shivirs, participants were sensitized about TB, including its symptoms, modes of transmission, and the availability of free diagnostic and treatment services provided by the Government of India. Emphasis was laid on reducing stigma and encouraging timely health-seeking behavior.

Leveraging advanced diagnostic tools, on-site screening was carried out using portable digital chest X-ray units, enabling rapid identification of presumptive TB cases. Individuals flagged during screening were further evaluated through sputum testing using Cartridge-Based Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (CBNAAT) technology, ensuring high sensitivity and early confirmation of cases. This integrated diagnostic approach facilitated prompt linkage to treatment services under the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP).

Screening Highlights:
* Total Chest X-rays conducted: 789
* Total CBNAAT tests conducted: 86
These sustained efforts reflect Chandigarh’s unwavering commitment to intensifying TB elimination strategies through early detection, universal access to free diagnostics and treatment, and strengthened community engagement i.e Janbhagidari. The campaign continues to play a pivotal role in accelerating progress towards the national target of eliminating tuberculosis and safeguarding public health.
