Chandigarh , 06.05.2026:Meeting to Review Progress of work of Census House Listing Blocks (HLB) Under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner

A meeting to review the progress of work of Census House Listing Blocks (HLB) was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner UT Chandigarh Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav.

1. The meeting commenced with a briefing to the Chair regarding the progress of House Listing Blocks (HLB) in Chandigarh, which commenced on 1st May, 2026.
2. The Deputy Commissioner expressed serious concern and dissatisfaction over the slow pace of Census work and took strict note of the situation.
3. It was further apprised that some teachers are creating nuisance and instigating others to abstain from performing Census duties.

Decisions Taken:
1. Charge Officers were directed to submit the names of teachers involved in misconduct and non-cooperation. Such teachers will be issued Show Cause Notices, followed by disciplinary action as per rules.
2. All Charge Officers were instructed to ensure that work in each and every House Listing Block is starts positively by 7th May, 2026.
3. Deputy Commissioner suggested that Charge Officers may seek support from local area Councillors to mobilize residents and facilitate smooth data collection.
4. The Deputy Commissioner categorically directed that no requests for exemption from Census duty based on certificate issued by Government Medical Board will not be entertained under any circumstances, as the Census process has already started.

The meeting concluded with a directive to ensure strict compliance with the timelines and responsibilities assigned.
