Chandigarh, May 7:- The Commissioner, MC Chandigarh Sh. Amit Kumar today conducted an extensive visit to Hallomajra area to review the status of basic civic amenities and inspect various public infrastructure-related issues requiring immediate attention.

The Commissioner was accompanied by MC Chief Engineer Sh. Sanjay Arora, nominated councillor Sh. Naresh Panchal, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, SDEs, JEs of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh and local residents of the area.

During the inspection, the Commissioner visited multiple sites and issued necessary directions to the concerned officials for timely resolution of public grievances and developmental concerns.

At the low-lying vacant land alongside the Chandigarh-Ambala road in Hallomajra, the Commissioner directed the concerned officials to prepare a Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) in coordination with the Office of the Chief Architect, U.T. Chandigarh. He also advised the Councillor to submit a formal representation highlighting the proposed community utilisation of the site. Directions were further issued to assess interim drainage arrangements to prevent waterlogging in the area.

While inspecting Gali No. 61-B, Hallomajra, the Commissioner emphasized the need for a comprehensive and integrated drainage strategy for effective management of sewerage and stormwater runoff. He directed officials to identify and rectify illegal sewerage discharge into the stormwater network and ensure diversion of such outlets to the main sewerage line.

At the site near Shop No. 687, directions were issued to examine the proposal for construction of a metalled road in the lane after verification of Lal Dora boundaries.

During the visit to the Government School, Hallomajra, the issue regarding shortage of land for expansion of the school campus was also discussed. The Commissioner directed officials to first explore the possibility of utilising nearby Municipal Corporation land for the proposed extension. In case of non-availability of suitable MC land, it was decided that a formal proposal may be forwarded to the Chandigarh Administration for further consideration.

The Commissioner reiterated the commitment of the MC Chandigarh towards strengthening civic infrastructure and ensuring timely redressal of public issues through coordinated planning and field-level monitoring.
