Chandigarh, May 18:- A meeting of the Town Vending Committee (TVC), Chandigarh was held today in the conference room of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh under the chairmanship of Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, Commissioner, MCC. The meeting witnessed detailed deliberations on various agenda items and issues concerning street vendors in the city.
Among the senior officers present were Ms. Kanwardeep Kaur, IPS, SSP, U.T.; Sh. Sumer Partap Singh, IPS, SSP (Security & Traffic, U.T.), who joined online; Dr. Himanshu Gupta, PCS, Joint Commissioner, MCC; Sh. Sukhwinder Singh (FASSI); Sh. Padam Saini, DTP, Department of Urban Planning; Sh. Sanjay Arora, Chief Engineer, MCC; Sh. Krishan Pal Singh, Superintending Engineer (H&E); Sh. Dharminder Sharma, Superintending Engineer (B&R); Dr. Inderdeep Kaur, Medical Officer of Health; Smt. Aarti Sharma, Architect; Sh. Charanpreet, Law Officer; Sh. Sunil Dutt, Superintendent Enforcement; and Sh. Avtar Singh, Inspector Enforcement.
TVC members including Smt. Chanchal Rani, Sh. Ravinder Singh, Sh. Pawan Kumar, Smt. Teena, Dr. Anish Garg and Mrs. Sabra were also present during the meeting. Special invitees included Sh. Charanjiv Singh, Chairperson, Beopar Mandal; Sh. Sanjiv Chadha, President, C.B.M.; Sh. Navneet Chawla; and Sh. Naresh Kumar Jain (UVM).
During the meeting, the committee discussed in detail the agenda regarding draw of lots for sites to NESP vendors who have cleared their outstanding dues. The committee recommended that preference would first be given to vendors for providing their consent regarding the vending zones where they wish to continue their business. Thereafter, if required, draw of lots would be conducted for allotment of sites in vending zones. The committee further recommended that draw of lots for remaining eligible vendors would be held on the 15th of every month.
On the agenda item related to change of trade, the committee recommended that ESP vendors would not be permitted to change their trade as of now, while NESP vendors would be allowed to change their trade mutually only within the NESP category and within their respective vending zones.
The committee also deliberated upon the agenda item regarding election of the next Town Vending Committee, as the tenure of the existing TVC is likely to conclude on March 23, 2027.
