Three arrested in Excise Act

A Case FIR No. 49 u/s 68-1-14 Punjab Excise Act, 1914 and 61(2) BNS has been registered at Police Station Sector-03, Chandigarh on the complaint of CT Harish No. 542/CP against Rajesh Sachdeva S/o Sh. Nand Lal R/o House No. 456, Village Saktri Pkl (HR), aged 53 years, proprietor of Liquor World Wine Shop, Sector-09, Chandigarh. During verification of a viral video, it was found that “Smirnoff Minty Jamun Flavoured Vodka” was allegedly being mixed in ice rolls and served openly to the public on 23.05.2026. The accused was arrested and lodged in police lock-up. Investigation of the case is in progress.

A Case FIR No. 90 u/s 61-1-14 Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Sector-39, Chandigarh against Ajay Kumar S/o Late Sh. Sher Singh R/o House No. 1634/C, Small Flats, Dhanas, Chandigarh, aged 39 years, who was apprehended near the ground opposite the side dispensary, Sector-56, Chandigarh on 24.05.2026. A total of 48 nips of country-made liquor (Marka Super Himmat Santra, 180 ml each) were recovered from his possession. The accused was arrested and later released on bail. Investigation of the case is in progress.

A Case FIR No. 75 u/s 61-1-14 Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Maloya, Chandigarh against Monty S/o Chaman Singh R/o Village Khempur, District Rampur (UP), aged 21 years, who was apprehended near the wine shop area of Maloya on 24.05.2026 and recovered 30 boxes of liquor, including 15 boxes of Iconiq White Whisky, 9 boxes of Blue Stroke Whisky, 4 boxes of Sokin Santra Masaledar and 2 boxes of Super Himmat Santra from his possession. The accused was arrested and later released on bail.

One arrested in Theft case

A Case FIR No. 69 u/s 305(C) added 317(2) BNS has been registered at Police Station Sector-11, Chandigarh on the complaint of Monika Arora W/o Varun Chopra R/o House No. 1036, Housing Board, Dhanas, Chandigarh against unknown occupants of a white Swift Dzire car (temporary registration number), who stole a brown Diana purse containing an Aadhaar Card, documents, cash of Rs. 3,000/-, a water bottle and a road map from her car No. CH01-BP-7521 parked outside Chitkara International School, Sector-25, Chandigarh on 23.05.2026 at about 2:09 PM. During investigation, accused Nikhil R/o House No. 3181, Sector-25, Chandigarh, aged 27 years, was arrested and sent to judicial custody. Investigation of the case is in progress.

One arrested in Gambling Act

A Case FIR No. 89 u/s 13A-3-67 Gambling Act has been registered at Police Station Sector-39, Chandigarh against Mohammad Abrar S/o Ali Hussain R/o House No. 2730, Sector-56, Chandigarh, aged 41 years, who was apprehended from an open ground near Dispensary, Sector-56, Chandigarh on 24.05.2026 while gambling (Dara Satta). Cash amounting to Rs. 2,150/- was recovered from his possession. The accused was arrested and later released on bail. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Quarrel

A Case FIR No. 54 u/s 115(2), 126(2), 190, 191(2), 191(3), 351(2) BNS has been registered at Police Station I/Area, Chandigarh on the complaint of Karan Sharma S/o Deepak Sharma R/o #286, Street No. 5, Preet Colony, Zirakpur (PB), aged 36 years against Abhishek, Sahil, Naveen and others, who allegedly assaulted the complainant with sticks, clubs and other weapons near Tribune Chowk, close to Novotel Hotel, Phase-1, Chandigarh on 23.05.2026 at about 9:00 PM. The victim sustained injuries and was admitted to GMCH-32. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Fatal Accident

A Case FIR No. 73 u/s 281, 106 BNS has been registered at Police Station Sector-34, Chandigarh on the complaint of Balbir Singh S/o Sh. Jaswant Singh R/o House No. 1889, Sector-52, Chandigarh, aged 62 years against Kulwant Singh S/o Jagir Singh R/o Village Khokhar, P.S. Sadar, Gurdaspur (PB), driver of car No. CH01-GA-1246, who allegedly hit the complainant’s Activa No. CH04-H-1951 near 33/34 Dividing Road on 24.05.2026 at about 8:30 PM. The complainant’s wife Kuldeep Kaur sustained injuries and was shifted to GMCH-32, where she was declared brought dead by doctors. Investigation of the case is in progress.
