Chandigarh, August 08, 2026: Deputy Commissioner, U.T. Chandigarh, Shri Nishant Kumar Yadav, IAS, today made surprise visits to various polling station locations to review the functioning of the two-day Special Camps for Electoral Services being organised on August 08 and 09, 2026 (Saturday and Sunday) across Chandigarh as per the schedule of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

During the visits, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the arrangements at the polling stations and interacted with Booth Level Officers (BLOs). He directed the BLOs to actively assist and guide citizens visiting the camps for electoral services.

The Special Camps are being organised at all polling station locations across Chandigarh on August 08 and 09, 2026. Citizens can visit their respective polling stations to check their names in the electoral roll and avail themselves of the prescribed electoral services.

During the ongoing Claims and Objections period from July 21, 2026 to August 20, 2026, eligible citizens can submit claims for inclusion in the Draft Electoral Roll along with the prescribed declaration and supporting documents.

Citizens who have attained or will attain the age of 18 years on or before July 01, 2026 are eligible to apply for enrolment in the electoral roll through Form-6.

The Electoral Roll Observer appointed for the constituency will also inspect the arrangements and progress of the Special Camps as per the directions of the Election Commission of India.

Appeal by the Deputy Commissioner
Deputy Commissioner Shri Nishant Kumar Yadav has appealed to all young residents of Chandigarh who have attained or will attain the age of 18 years on or before July 01, 2026 to visit their nearest polling station during the Special Camps and get their names enrolled in the electoral roll by submitting Form-6.

He urged all eligible youth not to miss this opportunity to get their names enrolled and obtain their voter cards, thereby becoming an active part of the democratic process. He said that the participation of young voters is essential for strengthening a vibrant and inclusive democracy.
