Chandigarh, August 8: On the occasion of Independence Day, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chandigarh Pradesh organised a grand Tiranga Yatra at Sector 17 Plaza today. Led by State President Jatinder Pal Malhotra, the yatra witnessed enthusiastic participation from presidents of all six districts, Mandal presidents, Mandal teams, party office-bearers, workers and more than 1,000 people.
With the Tricolour proudly fluttering in the hands of participants, patriotic songs filling the air and resounding slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram”, Sector 17 Plaza was transformed into a vibrant display of patriotism. The enthusiastic participation of the public gave the yatra the character of a grand public event.
Former BJP Chandigarh State President and present Co-Incharge of Himachal Pradesh, Sanjay Tandon, was specially present. State Vice Presidents Davinder Babla, Indira Singh and Naresh Panchal, State General Secretary Ramveer Bhatti, Shakti prakash Devshali, Media Incharge Ravi Rawat, Mayor Saurabh Joshi along with several senior party office-bearers and workers, were also present.
“We breathe freely in an independent India because of the sacrifices of our martyrs”: Jatinder Pal Malhotra
State President Jatinder Pal Malhotra said that the Tricolour is a symbol of India’s honour, pride and glory. The freedom we enjoy today and the opportunity to breathe freely in an independent India are the result of the supreme sacrifices of countless brave martyrs and the relentless struggle of patriots.
He said that Independence Day is not merely an occasion for celebration but also a time to remember our responsibilities towards the nation. We must work together to build the India envisioned by our martyrs.
He said that the enthusiastic participation of citizens along with BJP workers reflects the deep respect for the Tricolour and the spirit of patriotism among the people.

Sanjay Tandon said that the Tiranga Yatra is a symbol of gratitude and respect towards the brave sons and daughters of the nation. It is because of the sacrifices of the great freedom fighters and martyrs that every citizen today can live freely and pursue their dreams.
He said that the nation comes first and the younger generation must draw inspiration from the lives and sacrifices of the martyrs and contribute towards nation-building.
He added that patriotic songs, the resounding chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and the sight of the Tricolour fluttering proudly filled the entire atmosphere with national pride.

State General Secretary Ramveer Bhatti said that the Tiranga Yatra is a true tribute to the immortal martyrs of the nation. India’s freedom was achieved through the sacrifice and dedication of countless brave souls.
He said that BJP Chandigarh has conveyed the message of “Nation First” through the Tiranga Yatra. He thanked the office-bearers of all six districts, Mandal teams, workers and citizens for their enthusiastic participation.
He said that the resounding chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram”, patriotic songs and the Tricolour proudly held by the participants transformed Sector 17 Plaza into a grand celebration of patriotism.
The Tiranga Yatra moved forward with a solemn resolve that the sacrifices of our martyrs will never be forgotten and the unity, integrity and honour of the nation will always remain supreme. The Tricolour is a symbol of the pride and self-respect of every Indian.
